Commanded the mercenary commander. The Knight of the Radiant Cross gazed up at the rugged man gratefully, and allowed himself to sag against his polehammer. His heavy armour was battered and crushed in some places, his tabbard was tattered and torn, however the insignia emblazoned proudly on his chest was oddly still untouched. The man had obviously gone through great lengths to protect the device he held so dearly.
"They came from no-where"
The knight started once he had sufficient breath back. He lowered his gaze in tiredness once again, the full weight of their challenge once more thrust upon his shoulders.
"We have been fighting the Cult for years before you and your men arrived here in Amala. You should have come when the grandmaster showed us all the threat, the delay has given the Snake Goddess time to reorganise her forces, and forge new equipment. Some of her followers are even rumoured to have begun to brew poisons of a type we have never even seen before."
"Do they bleed?"
The commander enquired, seeming to ignore the discomfort the man was showing.
"Of course"
The knight locked eyes with the mercenary once more, and the two men began to smile, the bared teeth of the exhausted fighter glinted redly in the late day sunlight.

The Snake Cult

The Snake Cult are significantly more dangerous than their vanguard in Pendor would have led one to believe. The Cult is divided into three sections of society, the believers of the Sect, the three Enclaves and the Minor Priestesses. Although distinctly different from one another, each section takes troops from the other to comprise their parties and armies.

Faction Military Overview

The Snake Cult conquers through terror, the talons of fear spreading slowly as the heart and minds of the oppressed become convinced that there is no hope in living life as they currently do and gradually becoming more and more absorbed in the promises of a better life under the Snakes, protected by their benevolent Goddess. Of course the fact that the Goddess truely is a powerful entity is well documented, her most avid supporters growing to adopt superhuman powers in strength and agility. This power is not subtly hidden, but widely trumpeted, thus the true strength of the goddess is proven by the hordes of devout priestesses praising her name, and in the three enclaves that have begun to grow in power in the realm of the Snakes.

Individually therefore the people of the Cult are weaker than the average human, their energy and strength sucked dry by the labours required for life under the regime of Azi Dahaka, however as her dominion grows in power, so does she - and this in turn is handed down to the people, so that even the most meek peasant could one day have the strength to bear down even the best Sarleon Knights.


Snake Sect

The Snake Sect are the Minor Faction, and rely on numbers rather than power, they are generally poorly equipped (all the good stuff goes to the Enclaves). One needs to be on their toes fighting them however, as those who grow confident in their abilities will find themselves surprised by the Minor Priestesses who lead these bands, ably supported as she is by small units of Enclave units who form an elite core to their armies.

Converts:

The Converts are the cannon fodder of the Cult, they are armed with light / medium armour and use axe and shield as weapons. The role of the Converts is primarily to soak up the arrows and bolts of their foes, and then to bring their axes in to play to destroy the enemy shields, meaning the more powerful weapons of the Believers, Zealots and Enclaves can get the kill more easily.

Believers:

The Believers are considered of a higher class than the Converts, and are entrusted with the use of crossbows. They do not have particular skill, but the stopping power of their weapons is impressive. They are poorly equipped for melee, trusting their survival rather to the Converts and Zealots.

Zealots:

Most of the horses in the Cult go to the Enclaves, however the Sect does maintain a small mounted unit, mostly used as a kind of riot police. They wield heavy truncheons, and have better armour than the majority of the Sect.


Snake Dominion

Although Snake Cult armies do use troops from both the Sect and Dominion, only the Dominion lines are connected closely enough to Azi Dahaka so as to benefit from a share of her power. A Snake Dominion army uses both Sect and Dominion troops, in roughly equal numbers (depending on the Lord). Each Lord (Snake Priestesses are the "Lords" of the Snake Dominion) has an enclave which they support, and will only field knights of that single enclave. This means that the Snake Dominion is most vulnerable when divided as you can exploit their weaknesses, however should a Snake Dominion campaign show up on your borders, it is time to become afraid, very afraid. When fighting together the various Enclaves will complement each other, wiping out the weakness which could have been exploited alone. The very best of each enclave tends to have a different fighting style to their comrades, and has honed those particular skills to frightening levels, equal to that of the dedicated Knighthood Orders found throughout Amala and Pendor.

The Enclaves

The Enclaves are the main military power for the Snake Cult, housing what are essentially extended Knighthood Orders within. There are three, each with their own particular flavour. Note the description of the Tyrants covers the whole line (Errant, Knight, Champion and Tyrant) and that of the enclave specials does likewise for their branch. Also a quick note on the Cult poisons, for release they are weapons which do increased damage above and beyond that found in normal equipment, however in a future expansion we are planning to add effects to the poisons depending on enclave. These will range from increased damage (Viper), damage over time (Cobra) and skill debuffs (Anaconda).

1.The Enclave of the Cobra
Cobra Tyrants:
The main line of the Cobra are just as we know and love from PoP3, well armoured knights with a fearsome two handed axe and javelins. The Cobra troops are the most balanced of the Enclaves, with a good mix of damage and armour. Their attacks are a little slow, but those that land are devastating. The Cobra's are the best horsemen of the Cult, well able to guide their horses through enemy ranks with such power that enemy soldiers are scattered before them. The job of the Cobra's are to be the sledgehammer for the Cult. They tear into the enemy and use their axes to wreck the defences of their foes. They also have enough staying power to hold the line, should the Cult decide the fight more defensively, or to defend a wall in a siege.

Cobra Venomblades:
The Venomblades have forgone their mounts and adopted lethal throwing axes which they throw with unerring accuracy, and the slightest touch of one usually means death. Luckily they cannot carry very many, but they use the iconic two handed axes of their Tyrant brethren, but coated in the same vile poison as their throwing axes. The Venomblades provide a short ranged solution for the general lack of ranged units in the Cult. They then back this up with solid blows from their axes, able to sweep through enemy infantry lines with ease.


2.The Enclave of the Viper
Viper Tyrants:
The Viper Tyrant's line are horse archers, with good melee capability. They wear lighter armour than the other enclaves, but their long spiked scimitars are very fast and do piercing damage. They are good horse archers, the best marksmen of the Sect Believers being chosen to join their ranks. They prefer the heavier horses of the Cult over the lighter ones favoured by most horse archers, which can make them a little vulnerable. Never the less, most of their enemies are dead before they even reach melee range.
Viper Shadowalkers:
The Shadowalkers forgo the bows and horses of their brethren, preferring to concentrate entirely on their bladework. They are the best swordsmen in the world, some say being spawned from captured D'Shar Blademasters. They have a small shield ideal for blocking but not much good against arrows. They are renowned for their speed, both in raining down blows on unfortunate enemies and also for their athletic ability. They are lightly armoured meaning that they are horrifically agile, and wield their spiked scimitars laced with deadly poison, meaning even a glancing blow could result in death.


3.The Enclave of the Anaconda
Anaconda Tyrants:
The Anaconda Tyrants boast fantastically thick armour with a massive shield and a long handled one handed axe. They are mounted on the stalwart Netherwold Chargers. Many people have made a bet on which will die first in battle, the rider or the horse, and quite often are disappointed with the result of "neither". They are the tanks of the battlefield, there to break up formations of enemies, and to offer shielding to the other Cult troops.
Anaconda Juggernaughts:
The Juggernaughts are tough. No, that's an understatement, they are really, really tough. So tough that a mountain will move before they do. Their armour is impregnable, their flesh is scaled like that of a reptile, their shields are like a castle wall and their maces hit like a horse. They don't ride a horse anymore though, so they are rather slow. Dismounted as they are, the Juggernaught is there to kill enemy dismounted Knights, especially effective when deployed with Cobra or Viper troops. The Anaconda take the blows while the others deal them.


The Minor Priestesses

Although the Snake Priestesses are now considered nobility in the Snake Cult, there are many women still in training, or the younger members of the powerful Priestess families who all fight in the front ranks together with their flock.

Minor Priestesses Line:

The priestesses start out light armoured and nimble, but become heavier and heavier as they go up the ranks. One thing they all have in common however is a penchant for long, pointy things with which to stab people. They all use a long spear (more like a pike) and javelins. The Matriarchs and Prophetesses also have access to the deadly poison used by the top Enclave soldiers. Far more nible than the Cobra and Anaconda, the Snake Priestesses act as a very effective hit and run force, their deadly spears appearing where they are most feared.

Asps

The Asps are the Noldor of the Cult, the absolute best warriors in the best gear. They use the poisoned throwing axes of the Cobra, the poisoned swords of the Viper and the heavy armour of the Anaconda, while riding fearsome Sindari Spirit Horses. Thankfully they are quite rare for their skills and abilities are very much super human, no-one really knows if they are really human at all, or a physical manifestation of Azi Dahaka's will.

拜蛇教

分支

蝰蛇暴君是弓骑兵,却也具有出色的近战能力。与其他分支相比,他们的护甲要轻一些,但是他们的带有尖刺的长弯刀却很快,并且会造成穿刺的伤害。他们是优秀的骑射手,是从教派的虔信者中被选拔出的神射手。他们比起大多数弓骑兵所偏爱的轻便快马,更喜欢拜蛇教中较重型的战马,这会使他们作为弓骑兵不那么强悍。即便如此,他们的大多数敌人甚至在达到近战距离之前就已经被射杀。

蝰蛇暗影行者

女祭司开始时护甲轻巧,但护甲随着她们阶级的不断提升也逐渐加固。他们共同的一件事是喜欢用长而尖的东西刺伤敌人。她们都使用长矛(更像是长枪)和标枪。族长和先知也可以使用支部高层士兵使用的致命毒药。女祭司远比眼镜蛇部队和巨蟒部队更能干,她们具有非常有效的攻击力和机动力,她们的致命长矛往往出现在敌人最担心的地方。

角蝰先锋

角蝰先锋是拜蛇教的诺多,毫无疑问,最好的战士装备着最好的装备。他们骑着可怕的辛达瑞精灵马,使用眼镜蛇的涂抹了毒液的飞斧,蝰蛇的涂抹了毒液的尖刺长弯刀和巨蟒的重型盔甲。值得庆幸的是,他们是非常罕见的,因为他们的技能和能力远远超出凡人,没有人真正知道他们是否真的是人,还是阿齐·达哈卡意志的肉体体现。

*后半段怎么前后矛盾,到底是不是诺多......或者说诺多只是一种修饰,表示最精锐?人可能也是修饰,表示实体。

二.完结感言及一些杂谈

在约2年前,我就曾在bilibili上投稿过一些 骑马与砍杀:战团 跑商的个人经验,后来就近1年也没有再更新过。

今年年初,由于疫情影响,空闲了很多,又重新开始征战潘德,还顺手写了2篇烈狮境的介绍,不过当时鲜有人看。

为了了解一些背景和一些攻略,我在潘德的预言Wiki上和贴吧里查阅了很多设定,资料以及兵种评定,但在bilibili上,大多数制作者都没有搬运过这些资料。

因此,我就做了这个系列的第一期 梅滕海姆 ,基本奠定了后期的格式,内容和风格。

但是令我没有想到的是,很多比较有人气的骑砍UP主都刷到了这条专栏并转发宣传了,之前的专栏总阅读量只有1500,而在梅滕海姆发布的2周内,专栏总阅读量就达到了4000。

后来当我又有兴致做专栏时,就做了一期巴克利的,但是远不如之前那么顺利,发布了2周,阅读量也只有400。尽管如此,我还是决定,要坚持做完一个系列。

于是,就从当初的2篇到了现在的13篇(这篇不算),甚至还有了1.5万的阅读量。

顺便在此,将之前专栏的一些遗漏之处和其它细节补充一下。

1.海因里希名字团长的原文是Heynrich,而不是常见的Heinrich,这一点当初疏忽了。而这一名字的变体,我从没有在其他地方见过。另外,梅滕海姆的“Are you ready to die today?”一句中的r发的是小舌音,明显是德语(荷兰语)的口音,当时忘记提了。

2.有些专栏前面是没有“部分内容来自潘德的预言中文Wiki,贴吧,本站”这一句,这不代表那一篇是没有引用别人的内容,原因是我忘了加而已。

3.专栏的头图,封面以及标题从迦图那一篇开始是完全不一样的,大部分借鉴了康拜因type-0的专栏起名风格,小部分则是照搬的,而之前的也跟着修改为统一的风格,曾经所有的标题都是“骑马与砍杀:潘德的预言 XXX详细介绍”。装备下面出现图片第一次是从凡斯凯瑞开始的,而且运用魔球也是从凡斯凯瑞开始的。(但凡斯凯瑞却是海外五国的专栏中,人气最低的。)

4.绝大多数资料都不是本人写的,主要是从贴吧不同的主题帖里搬运的,只有少数资料因为版本太老,我才会重新核对。

5.我之所以从不在专栏最后要求别人三连和关注,是因为我自己从来不三连,也不随意关注。

不求关注和三连,况且我不能保证以后会更新,可以选择取关。

6.很多时候,兵种评定的用词极为贫乏,实际原因是:大部分都是将第一个复制黏贴下来,再根据不同的情况的事实来修改词汇。

然而由于过于麻烦(早期烈狮境那一期反而采用了),最后只保留了推荐指数这一项,但以后的骑士团兵种评定,由于只有2个,所以会采用这个格式。

而且由于我本人文笔很糟糕,一般不在专栏里留下大段自己写的内容。

但在可能是最后一期的专栏中,还是留下一些自己的话吧,也算是留作纪念吧。

7.这个系列完结后,以后不可能再高产了。以后不定期(可能数月不更新)更新一些骑士团。

潘德本土五国和潘德王国由于工作量过大,因此暂时不在计划内。
