The generation I found myself within came into being while the truly great master of twentieth century architecture, such men as Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, were still alive, still practicing, still creating…. Certainly my generation was twice removed: we did not experience what must have been an overwhelming power-full force which the generation preceding ours had had to confront. They faced the insistent, unrelenting work of revolutionary architectural masters … constantly producing … creating … producing … creating … and densely impacting. A virtual pre-empting occurred. We, the third generation, were heavily, heavily influenced. The original new ground had already been decisively broken. What remained was a job of filling in … to “fill in.” We had witnessed the result of a bombardment.
