Theoretical research in school competitiveness

 

Background:

Along with the appearance of knowledge-based era and the evolution of education globalization,  the competition between schools becomes more and more intense, and therefore the issue of school  competitiveness  has  caused  more  and  more  researchers’  attention. 

 

What:

Firstly,  the  dissertation  summarizes  the  content  of  the  research  on  enterprise  competitiveness  and  university  competitiveness  including  the  definition  of  enterprise  competitiveness  drew  by  the   Chinese  and  foreign  scholar,  the  theory  explanation  how  enterprise  competitiveness  originates,  the  factors  that  influence  enterprise  competitiveness,  and  definition,  constitution  and  evaluation  index  system  designed  for  university  competitiveness  ;  and  also  the  intension,  characteristic  ,  essential  factors and structure of university core competitiveness and so on.  

Secondly, based on the definition of competition and competitiveness , the dissertation attempts  to give a general idea of school competitiveness which can be accepted by most researchers, it also  clarify manifestation of school competition and the relationship between school competitiveness and  school core competitiveness.   

Finally,  the  source  of  school  competitiveness  can  be  distinguished  into  two  parts  as  internal  source  and  external  source. 

analysis  indicates  that  the  internal  source  of  school  competitiveness  including  the  school  resources,  the  school  characteristic,  the  school  culture,  managed  ability,  learning  ability,  innovation  ability,  a  school  principal;  external  source  including  the  geographical  environment, the economic environment, the political and legal environment of education,cultural  and  public  opinion  environment  of  education  and  the  technical  environment  which  construct  the  school  environmental  competitiveness. 

In  brief,  we  may  regard  the  school  competitiveness  as  the  function  of  environment. 

The  author  also  established  the  source  model  and  formation-mechanism  model of school competitiveness in the dissertation.  

Based on the research above, a theoretical frame of analyzing school competitiveness is initially  constructed at the end of the dissertation.

It can be taken as a cursory index system in analyzing and  evaluating school competitiveness.
