Evening, y'all! I should really clarify something regarding Social Media Personified. :)
*If you're not in the mood to read my discursive mess, that's fine! ...TL;DR:
All I ask is that you stop calling my designs "Appshumans". I go by "Social Media Personified" for now on. :)))
If you were to make your own designs, however, that wouldn't be SMP. That would be your original concept (i don't want to steal the credit)!

...So, I am BY NO MEANS the "creator" of the IDEA of humanized social media. I'm pretty sure there's already been a shitton of humanized social media concepts created by other artists before I came along.
HOWEVER, I do want to consider myself the creator of MY interpretation of humanized social media (which is why i'm strictly calling it "Social Media Personified" from now on). I believe that my designs are incredibly biased, so that's why I'd rather have credit for my personal take on humanized social media, instead of credit for the full-on idea of humanized social media as a whole because, again, I'm damn sure I wasn't the first one to draw social media personifications.
(For example: Polandball, Hetalia, Scandanavia and The World, and Countryhumans are all based on country personifications, but the way each fandom executes that concept makes each of them different.)
Oh yeah! Speaking of Countryhumans, you may notice that Social Media Personified branches off of Countryhumans in terms of appearance... and so does Apphumans! So, Social Media Personified and Apphumans must be the same thing, right? They're similar, but I'd like to say otherwise.
Apphumans (created by @cryz725 https://www.instagram.com/cryz725/?hl=en ) is based off of ALL mobile apps, including video games, productivity apps, and pretty much all of the sort as long as it's on a phone. Cryz725 has also already made their own storyline to Appshumans. I think their execution is really neat because they focus more on creating a plot (like with what happened to Vine and Musical.ly), so there's a lot more serious-toned drama in their comics! Their designs are also more consistent because they stick with circle head and pupilless eyes (like countryhumans) for all of the characters.
Social Media Personified on the other hand (created by me, UwU) is based off of social networking-type websites (and its parent companies) SPECIFICALLY and they may not necessarily be apps. Here, there's less of a focus on plot but rather more focus on glorifying the specific problematic/controversial parts of each social media, whether it's about the company or its users (because I gotta appeal to boomers who dislike social media, yo >:O). If I made a webcomic with my social media characters, it would probably just be slice-of-life (or just a massive shitpost).
I apologize for not addressing this sooner. I guess I was too afraid or unsure on how to phrase this for a bit. I hope this post makes sense.
To finish off, I totally understand if y'all think that I'm putting waaaaaaay too much time and effort that I'm putting into this silly concept (I think I'm way too obsessed with the idea, too lmao), but it has strongly motivated me to keep on drawing and continue learning to animate, which I'm really grateful for! Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

And they come from the internet... the fucking internet, mate. 🤠🤠 People have already jumped onto shipping real countries, so honestly, I wouldn't feel guilty for shipping social media if I were you. I totally forgive anyone who's commented stuff like that before because i've never really been direct enough about it. I s'pose it's just that i prefer constructive comments over blind requests.
Drawing as many websites as possible was never really the point of Social Media Personified.
And surprise, surprise! I don't know every social networking site there is! I don't want to focus on forcing in websites i'm not sure about, and instead focus on adding to the website personifications i'm very much sure about!
Off topic; somewhat re:
In fact, the unconscious feeling to pander was one of the biggest reasons why i moved on from drawing Countryhumans (whether it be drawing specific countries idk much about or random shippings i don't understand?? all to indulge the fandom). I guess when you put, ya know, real life countries into the hands of humanization, there's always a touch of nationalism so having to pander is warranted.
Anywho, i get that it's tiring to see the same faces over and over again, but i'm just tryna have as much fun as possible 'til i get tired of this stupid concept myself :,,,)
