A Life of Loneliness
—Personal Translation from A 2007 Composition
Loneliness is a snapped red thread. In silence, those who set his mind clutching it in his hand, hoping that a predestined man will come and hold the other end, even if nowhere to be found.
“Fine drizzles wet my gown, lost to be seen; odd petals drop to the ground, mute to be heard.” Reading the line each time, I can't help but sigh at the loneliness of the drizzles and petals. When the mistlike drizzle, drop by drop, drips onto the fine robe, who can’t tell the rolling torrents? How could it otherwise soak the whole garment? When the mellow petals, in reel and rout, fall on the stone road, who can’t tell the thrilling burst? How could they otherwise strew the whole pavement? They come to a sticky end, however, still “lost to be seen” and “mute to be heard”.
One has a flower mound deep inside, where all feelings are left behind—turbulent and poignant yet unknown from the outside. But the mound is locked in loneliness, no matter time and tide.
