花式裁员：裁员相关单词

叮~预告：接下来两集都和裁员有关，先来预热一下这些和裁员相关的单词和表达吧。

1. lay off

vt. to cease to employ (a worker) often temporarily 解雇

eg. The company is to lay off 1,520 workers as part of a restructuring.

作为改组的一部分，这家公司将解雇1520名工人。

它的名词小伙伴：layoff。

2. shed

vt. (Industrial Relations & HR Terms) to abolish or get rid of (jobs, workers, etc) （劳资关系中）去除、摆脱

eg. The firm is to shed 700 jobs.

这个公司将裁掉700个工作岗位。

3. slash 

vt. reduce them by a large amount 大幅度削减，大大降低

BASF will slash 2,600 jobs due to cost-cutting bid.

由于成本削减，巴斯夫将削减2600个工作岗位。

4. cut

Facebook parent company Meta has cut 11,000 positions.

5. reduce 

eg. Twitter has reduced its staff by two-thirds.
