Yeah. As solo mid-sequencer who is not even 5 months in completely new world our MC is little too powerful.
You see in order to train soldier you have to spend like years.
Therefore author made little mistake making churches so incompetent. If they exist so long then their members made know how to fight other potion users, how to fight overall, tools etc etc.
THis is something you learn in years,. Thats why soldiers can massacre easily civilian rebels. Believe me, spy training, soldier training etc is paramount. Our MC at most can scurry away around like a mouse since his whole path is about stealth. And spying.

I completely disagree, the churches are super strong but theres no way for them to know everything that would be stupid. If the churches were big brother then there would be little to no chance for other organizations to exist in the first place. How are they supposed find stuff like this out? Even if they weren't divination proof you have to know something beforehand to be able to successfully divine anything about it. Spies in the Demoness Sect and Aurora order should be near impossible to achieve even at low levels, let alone the very top of organizations that are cleared for knowledge of a plot like this. Not to mention the royal family (and I think the Demoness sect too?) are both older than the churches. Even though they don't have a true god backing them we've seen that ever since the fifth era the orthodox gods practically don't touch the world at all. Fighting a foundation older and possible deeper than the churches own with no foreknowledge of the plot at all how are the churches supposed to compete? Not to mention they have no access to Sequence 1 beyonders like the Royal Family might since they don't have a god behind them. Finally, most of the churches resources are focused on keeping order for the general public (Nighthawks, Mandated Punishers, Machinery Hivemind etc.) while secret organizations likely have about the same manpower (Law of beyonder characteristic indestructibility or whatever its called) but can completely focus on whatever their goals are instead of getting bogged down in a bunch of random stuff all time.
The Churches are as strong as they should be, near the top of the powerful organizations but not superhuman. All in all its a wonder they're doing as well as they are already given the circumstances.

Agreed. The churches are pretty competent for what they’re working with. It’d be weirder and less believable if they were all powerful and no threat against them stood. And it’s not like the Evil Guys?? don’t have their own backing and go through planning to specifically avoid/mislead the churches.

Rather than that, I think the problem is more that there is some corruption and other forces influencing the churches, such as whatever the royal family is up to.
Furthermore, they keep a ton of vital information secret. Even though they should know tons about the Seer Pathway from fighting with them for centuries, they keep the information secret. They also make people who discover the Acting Method take oaths to keep this information to themselves instead of helping their comrades. The churches intentionally limit their own power.

The intentional limiting their own power is probably a protective measure they develop over the years. Given how Ince act, the church probably had poor experiences with ambitious individuals. You need a powerful beyonder to keep other beyonder in line. By limiting access and slow advancement, the churches are trying to keep their useful but potentially dangerous assets manageable.

The churches most definitely has a reason for not sharing the acting method. It might lead to a lot of beyonders both affiliated with major powers and rogues running around at sequence 5. Which would make the job of the churches and their task forces much more difficult. There are probably a whole plethora of other reasons.

Yeah as much as I love this story that was kind of BS. How does a sequence 6 beyonder consistently find himself vanquishing the plans of gods at sequence 0? Why are the churches who all most all have at least a dozen demi-gods not anywhere to be found. Also with the way stopped the ritual, did Mr.Door a sequence 1 or 2 really overpower a God and manage to interrupt his descending?

He is the king of yellow and black and wields good luck (hence his good luck), and mr door a very high sequence beyonder didnt defeat a God, all he did was destroy the balance of the ritual. It's comparable to cutting a phone line vs destroying the entire phone company.

Great debate here :) In our world despite all investments criminal and terrorist organizations unfortunately still manage to work wihtout authorities noticing them. I feel churches are more used to deal with the consequences of the beyonder world than prevention. Especially here when a seal 0 artifact is involved, it's difficult to know what's going on. Yes the MC is op in the sense that the fog, his main power, is to become aware of this. But as he died miserably last time, I think it is well balanced ;)

I see it as the church looking for true geniuses. It would just be too expensive to invest in so many low talented individuals who will have a high risk of failure even with the acting method. An example will be Klein who was close to failing sequance 6 even though he can be considered a top genius with everything he has helping him out, also. If Klein never died, the church would most likely heavily invest in him.
I see money as a priority but there are still more important factors, like mental health.

Yup. Sequence 6 of that pathway roughly translated into "Record Keeper." Whenever they see a beyonder ability being used, there is a chance they can "record" it down onto a special notebook and later cast the ability themselves. The higher level the ability, the more likely the "recording" would fail.
