What do you fellows Latin Americans think about the idea of a unx between Latin American countries?
To be clear, I'm not talking about some kind of Latino USSR out of some neocon's worst nightmare, but about an EU-like unx, a federation/confederation of sorts.

15、Nah man, currently Mexico is on the verge of balkanizing because of regional differences with the Central Goverment, i don't think a Latin American unx would work, at least not with the current situation.

Forced unxs are bad, and even bad when the countries are so different cultures and people.

18、Aside from the immense cultural and economic differences, how you get Mexico City to listen to Brasilia or Lima or Buenos Aires is beyond me. The brunt of Mexicans I've encountered were ferociously patriotic and proud to be Mexican, even defiantly so. Why would such people submit themselves to foreign governments? It'd be more likely Mexico simply reannexed Central American.

20、I know this question is asked a lot, but since I'm in favor or Latin American integration I don't mind. I love the topic, however I think your mixing up terms in your question. An EU-like unx is not a federation, but a confederation. In the former the member states are subordinates to the central government (like in the USA or Brazil) while in the later the member states control the central government (like the EU).
