  1. propitious: likely to result in success, or showing signs of success

    eg. Her answer, therefore, was not propitious.

  2. postscript: a short remark or message added to the bottom of a letter after you have signed your name, usually introduced by the abbreviation PS.

    eg. And in her postscript it was added, that if Mr. Bingley and his sister pressed them to stay longer, she could spare them very well.

  3. laconic: using very few words to express what you mean

    eg. But their father, though very laconic in his expressions of pleasure, was really glad to see them.

  4. threadbare: threadbare material or clothes have become thin or damaged because they have been used a lot

    eg. some new observations of thread-bare morality to listen to

  5. preceding: existing or happening before someone or something

    eg. Much had been done, and much had been said, in the regiment since the preceding Wednesday.
