水以平滑的曲线从岩石的边缘倾泻而下，咆哮着冲入一道深渊。三只猫坐在瀑布上游的河边。他们看着第四只猫靠近。星光在她的爪子上闪闪发光，在她漆黑的毛皮上蒙上了一层薄雾。

新来的猫停了下来，“你为什么选择在这里见面？这里太潮湿太吵了。”

另一只皮毛灰加白的母猫喵道：“我们选择这里是因为这里潮湿！我们不想让任何猫听到。”

“你可以在这里坐下。”喵着一只蓝灰色皮毛的公猫。

“哦，谢谢你。”那只黑猫坐在公猫旁边，把尾巴放在他的尾巴上。

“现在停止抱怨，讨论这个问题。”一只深灰色的虎斑公猫站了起来。“这两个学徒还没有意识到预言。”

“我比你更了解她。她只为朋友保守秘密。显然，我们不是她的朋友，她甚至不认识我们。要不我们发出一个预兆，看看她们是否能发现。”

“别再争论了，试着解决问题。我们会托一个梦给亮爪，当她从清池回来时，她可以告诉暗爪。”蓝灰色的公猫喵着，舔着他的长毛。

Prologue

Water poured over the lip of the rock in a smooth curve and roared down into a chasm. Three cats sat on the edge of the river just upstream of the waterfall. They watched as a fouth cat appread. Starlight sparkled at her paws and misted on her pitch-black pelt. 

The newcomer halted "Why did you choose to meet here? It's just too damp and noisy." 

Another she-cat, with gray and white fur, mewed "We chose here because its wet! We don't want any cat to overhear." 

"You can take a seat here."mewed a tom with blue-gray fur.

"Oh, thank you."The black she-cat sat beside the tom and put her tail on his.

"Now stop this complaining and discuss about the problem." A dark gray tabby tom stood up." The two apprentices haven't realized the phophercy yet."

"I assume they've already realized their superpowers, haven't they? They just didn't tell anyone."

"Are you mouse-brained? A cat couldn't tell the diffrence between its own eyesight and others'."mewed the dark gray tabby tom."Remember Dovewing?"

"Oh who believes those Turtledove's Cry's stories." the gray and white she-cat took a sip in the river." But you have a point. We should warn them directly."

"Why don't we send an omen to Brightpaw? You know, Darkpaw is too honest and couldn't keep this secret to friends and family."mewed the black she-cat.

"She kept a secret for Brightpaw. I'm sure she won't have a problem."

"I know her better than you. She only keeps secrets for friends. Oviously, we're not her friends, she don't even know us. Let's just send an omen and see if they could find out."

"Stop arguing and try to solve the problem. We'll send a dream and meet Brightpaw, she could tell Darkpaw when she comes back from the Clearpool."mewed the blue-gray tom, licking his long fur.

"If you walk in her dreams yourself, I agree."The black she-cat muttered near the tom's ear, "You stupid furball."

"Do anyone have other ideas? Then I'll walk in her dreams next night."
