And while there's nothing wrong with enjoying these characters, they're extremely hard to relate to. They're naive and stubborn and willful to the extreme but people still cater to them because idk MC power or something.
Klein, on the other hand, is a really normal guy. He's cautious and even a little cowardly. He's somewhat petty but still enjoys small luxuries. If given the chance, Klein would laze, eat merrily on an epic food journey, and indulge in fitful fantasies (mainly of money 😂). He has very real thoughts that readers can empathize with. And while he is a logical thinker, he still misses important clues and events only to realize them much later. The author doesn't pull any of that bs where MC figures everything out through some obscure clue at the very beginning and then precedes to point out the whole master plan out of thin air, most of which contains "insider" information the reader isn't privy to.
No, Cuttlefish is very good at that ever present Lovecraft horror that just snowballs throughout the series. The danger is very real. Klein is perfectly flawed. And the balance between tension and comedic relief is Mwah! Icing on the cake

但另一方面来说，克莱恩，是个非常普通的人。他小心谨慎，甚至显得有一点点怯懦。他有点小气，但还是喜欢享受小小的奢侈。如果有机会的话，他会好好放松，在史诗般的美食之旅中及尽情享受，还会陷入不切实际的幻想（大部分是关于钱的233）。他的思考和想法都是读者非常容易共情的。而且作为一个思考非常逻辑化的人，他还是会有错过重要线索或者事件的时候，而且直到很久之后才意识到。作者并没有选择一开始就点明主角遇到的一切事情的真相，而是只展示模糊的线索，通过主角慢慢摸索事件来推进，从而点破整个计划最后的那层窗户纸，而这些计划里通常都有很多读者不太了解的“内幕”消息。
其实乌贼目前为止还是非常善于描写洛夫克拉夫特式的恐怖情节的，这种通过滚雪球的方式逐渐扩散的效果很洛氏。恐怖感非常真实。克莱恩也不是完人。而且这种紧张感和喜剧轻松环节间的平衡简直是！啊！有如锦上添花！
