This video is by far the most likable Amy's video for me. The amount of information in this video is incredibly significant - street views, those roads, different faces of Beijing, food, time recap, rude people, nice people, etc. Most of all, the sponsor's product is wonderful and it's really compelling to use that camera for this adventure.
I am so inspired by this video so I just told myself that if next year I am back in Shanghai, I will do exactly the same in Shanghai. Hope my work VISA will be authorized soon.

As someone who was born and raised in Beijing I must say, that dude in Hutong can't be considered as rude at all in our culture. That's him simply being friendly and comfortable to talk to someone he feels like he can banter with, to troll in a friendly way but not offensive. It's part of the bantering culture ;)

@Thicc Thicc Thicc actually he is not. He just try to show his hospitality by treating her like a friend, not like a stranger. I think this is unique for China, especially in East China.

@NetterDrachen You are both right. The word "offended" is neutral here. It's not negative. It's like you're offended by him/her using the word "offended" in his/her comment and that's why you have to defend that guy by commenting here.

@NetterDrachen He was using the word "offended" hyperbolically for humorous purposes. Like if someone says, "I am offended you have the audacity to think that blue is a better colour than green, you absolute philistine!" It's not meant seriously.

that's chinese culture for you. no concept of privacy and personal space. you get asked about all sort of things you would consider inappropriate in western cultures, but when you are immersed in it you'll feel the warmth and friendship like in no other culture.

as others have explained, there was no rudeness. This is a fundamental cultural difference that outsiders perceive and interpret inaccurately. He was actually quite friendly.
