垃圾堆是一个游戏前期区域，这里覆盖着堆积如山的垃圾，和遍布水蛭（Leechs）的绿色水池。是作为僧侣或求生者进行游戏时跟随监视者的指引进入的第三个区域，它还是工匠模式的初始区域。同时也是大群拾荒者（Scavenger）扎根的家园。
——总览
垃圾堆是一个十分宽广的区域，主要由三个水平的平行区块组成，中间的区块从西边的工业区连接至东边的海岸线，在那里可以看到一个拾荒者收费站把守着通往海岸线的大门，上层的区块通向一个独特的拾荒者据点，内含两个竞技场代币和大群的拾荒者，这个据点由另一个拾荒者收费站把守。这两层区块都在地表以上，使玩家暴露在秃鹫（Vulture）的视线之下，地图的最底层区块，也就是第三层区块则位于地表之下，这一层的最东边可以看到大量滋生的黄长腿菌（Brother Long Legs）。
垃圾堆是所有区域中拾荒者数量最多的区域，拾荒者商人也同理。由于垃圾虫（Garbage Worm）在该地区随处可见，使得矛和炸矛的失窃事件十分常见。

此时间段适用于僧侣，求生者，猎手，饕餮，溪流和圣徒。除了外观，生物生成和腐化物的位置发生了各种变化外，垃圾堆与散布在其中的拾荒者群和珍珠仍保持相对一致。
—过去
此时间段适用于工匠和矛大师。倾盆大雨DLC新增的垃圾堆变体，酸水垃圾场（wiki原文为Garbage Wastes(Past)，中文社区的酸水垃圾场只是对过去的垃圾堆的一个绰号），其特点是更加富含工业时期的建筑风格，几乎所有的剩余结构都含有大量的酸水池。

——你知道吗
在GW_A14（烈焰蜥蜴代币）房间中，水位实际上并没有完全覆盖这个房间，因此可以坐在顶部的管道连接内而不会溺水。
下层区块中的天花板上的两个代币可以将矛当作杆子使用来收集，也可以在GW_E01房间抓一只蝉乌贼过来。
垃圾堆—阴影城堡的新增业力门是倾盆大雨DLC新增的本体区域之间仅有的两个新增连接之一，另一个是排水系统—烟囱天棚。
在酸水垃圾场中，秃鹫只能进入拾荒者据点附近的房间（据点本身除外），而且会优先进入收费前的两个房间，因为其他房间都被设置为了“禁止”（'forbidden'）。
