The aircraft caters to 78 to 90 passengers, with a range between 2,225 kilometers and 3,700 kilometers. The flights using ARJ21-700 aims to serve flight routes from central major cities to outskirt middle-and-small-sized cities. On June, 28, 2020, Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines received their ARJ21s, which is nicknamed as “Jiao”, at the COMAC Pudong Base for Assembly and Manufacturing. By the end of 2021, over 40 ARJ21s had been delivered and there are estimates that by 2022 the number will increase to 54. In 2021, Transnusa Airways, an Indonesian airline company, tested their first COMAC ARJ21-700, marking the Chinese-made plane making its way to the international markets. The successful research, development and manufacturing of COMAC ARJ21 greatly bridged the gap in the markets for small-sized airliners. Compared to its competitors of the same level, ARJ21 provides with more comfortable cabins for travelers with better flying experience. From the launching of the Chinese projects on COMAC ARJ21, to the birth of the prototype, the process took over 14 years, which is a work of China’s Civil Aviation’s great pains and efforts for generations.
