Odontogenic infection accounts for 70% of cases. In adults, periapical abscesses between the mandibular molars (teeth #19 & #30) are the most common etiology, while upper respiratory infections account for most cases in children.
牙源性感染病例占70%。成人中，下颌磨牙（第19和30）根尖周围脓肿是最常见原因；而上呼吸道感染病例在儿童中占多数。
