Toyota Gazoo Racing driver Ryo Hirakawa is the new kid on the block for the FIA World Endurance Championship title leaders, but you’d never guess that given the results he’s achieved this year racing in the #8 Toyota GR010 – HYBRID he shares with Brendon Hartley and Sébastien Buemi.

丰田车队的平川亮是今年WEC的新鲜血液，也是积分榜的领跑者。看着他在丰田八号车里取得的优异成绩，很多人估计还不相信他只是个新秀咧。

So far, Ryo’s notched-up his first win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as a home victory last time out in the 6 Hours of Fuji.

How would you describe your first season in WEC?

怎么形容你的WEC首季？

I think my first season in WEC has been a bit like a dream. I am a Le Mans winner and I won a World Championship race at my home track, Fuji Speedway. So there have been many amazing moments and it is not finished yet; we will fight for the World Championship as well. It has not been easy; I have worked very hard and my team-mates have helped me a lot in my first season. We have built up a great relationship and I think we work very well together.

我的第一个赛季感觉太梦幻了。我现在是勒芒24小时冠军，还在自己的主场赛道富士拿下了一场世界大赛！我们已经有很多难忘的惊喜时刻了，不过一切还没结束，我们还要去争夺世界冠军。所有成绩都不是轻易获得的，我非常努力去工作，队友们在我的新秀年也帮了我很多。我们之间有着良好的工作氛围，合作得非常愉快。

What has surprised you? 

有什么让你感到惊喜的么？

I think the atmosphere in the team, with the other drivers, has been a positive surprise. I know in other championships there is a rivalry between team-mates, but in our team all the drivers work as one team. We spend all our time together, even away from the track, and I have really got to know Mike, Kamui, José, Séb and Brendon. It is like a family and I enjoy that.

我觉得车队的团队氛围，和其他队友的合作，这些足够惊喜，也非常积极。我很清楚，在其他赛事里，队友之间往往会形成激烈的宿敌关系，但在我们车队，所有车手就像一个团队一样紧密合作。即使在非工作时间，我们也经常抱团活动，这让我能够很好的了解我的队友们，彼此间如同一个家庭，这让我很享受。

What have been the challenges? 

那都有哪些挑战？

There are many things to get used to in a new team, with a new car. The GR010 HYBRID is quite different from a Super GT or LMP2 car, which I am more familiar with, so I needed a few tests in pre-season to adjust. The biggest difference is the amount of settings we can control from the steering wheel, including for the hybrid system. There are many options to help a driver find the right balance and you need experience to use these in the best way. 

加盟新车队，驾驶新赛车，这些都有很多事情要去重新适应。GR010赛车和我所熟悉的Super GT，LMP2赛车都大不相同，我必须在季前测试中去尽力磨合。我们能通过方向盘调整非常多的赛车设置，包括混动系统，这也许是最大的不同之处。车手会有很多选择，来让赛车达到最佳的平衡状态，这些都需要经验的积累。
