第六章

“暗爪！”黄爪喵着，“醒醒！快到中午了！”

“闭嘴，你这个专横的毛球。”暗崽抱怨道：“我不会像你一样每天在森林里巡逻。”

“你才是毛球。我只想叫醒你。我又不是每天都去巡逻！”

暗崽坐起来，晃着她的尾巴。

“你需要每天和你的巢友争论吗？”蓝牙进来了，“我要去森林里训练白爪。你也应该和灰心一起来。别再争论了，做点有用的事。”

“但是黄爪先吵的……”

“你也太粗鲁了。黄爪是只好猫，就不要对他太刻薄了。”在他们走出学徒巢穴时，白爪喵道。

灰心坐在树下。“我昨天早上带你看了森林。现在，你能认出这种气味吗？”

狐狸般的气息！“一定是日族！”

“对了。你学得很快，暗爪。今天我要教你怎么打猎。”

“我知道怎么做！我偷偷溜出营地时逮住了一只老鼠。”

暗爪伏在地上，努力嗅出猎物的气味。她轻轻地、安静地移动着，越来越靠近她的猎物。灰心静静地站在空地的另一边。

只有一老鼠长了！暗爪的心跳得很快。吱——嚓。田鼠听到树枝折断的声音，毫不犹豫地迅速跑开了。

另一边的灰心挡住了田鼠的路，很快就把它杀死了。“没关系。”他喵道：“这只是你今天的第一次尝试。你是个很棒的猎手。”

暗爪知道他是对的，于是又开始尝试。

“干得好！你打猎的第一天就逮住了一只鼩鼱！”蓝牙称赞道。

这不是第一天。她把鼩鼱拿起来放进猎物堆。然后她捡起一只麻雀，走近白爪。

“现在我是一只没有兄弟姐妹的猫，就像你一样。”暗爪叹了口气。

“你会没事的。就连你母亲也从这场悲剧中走了出来。”白爪喵着。“我周围没有亲人，但我依然很好。我有黄爪和豹爪！”

连蓝牙都相信亮爪不会回来了……暗爪盯着满天繁星。能去探寻她陷入了什么并把她带回来的只有我一只猫。

Chapter 6

"Darkpaw!" mewed Yellowpaw. "Wake up! It's almost sun-high!"

"Shut up, you bossy furball." Darkpaw complained, "I'm not going to patrol the forest every day like you."

"Furball yourself. I only want to wake you up. And I didn't go patrol every day!" 

Darkpaw sat up and swooped her tail.

"Darkpaw, do you need to argue with your denmates every day?" Bluefang came in, "I'm going to train Whitepaw in the forest. You should come with Grayheart too. Stop argueing and do something useful."

"But Yellowpaw started it…"

"You are being rude too. Yellowpaw's a fine cat, just don't be too mean to him." Whitepaw mewed as they walked out the apprentice den.

Grayheart sat under a tree."I've shown you around the forest last morning. Now, can you recognize this scent?"

Fox-like scent!"It must be Sunclan!"

"That's right. You're learning fast, Darkpaw. Today I'll teach you how to hunt proprally."

"I know how! I've caught a mouse when I sneaked out of camp."

Darkpaw crawl low, trying hard to scent prey.  She moved slightly and quietly, closer and closer to her prey. Grayheart stood still on the other side of the glade.

Only a mouse-length! Darkpaw's heart beated fast. Crack. The vole heard the sound of that broken branch, quickly ran away without hesitating.

Grayheart, on the other side, blocked the vole's way and quickly killed it."It's okay." He mewed, "It's only your first try of the day. You're a great hunter."

Darkpaw knew he was right and began trying again.

"Good job! You caught a shrew on your first day of hunting!" Bluefang praised.

It's not the first day.Darkpaw picked the sherw up and put it in the fresh-kill pile. Then she picked up a sparrow and walked near Whitepaw.

"Now I'm a cat with no siblings around, just like you." Darkpaw sighed.

"You'll be okay. Even your mother has came out of this tragety."Whitpaw mewed."And I'm fine with no kin around. I have Yellowpaw and Leopardpaw!"

Even Bluefang believes that Brightpaw won't come back……Darkpaw stared at the night sky full of stars.I'm the only cat who could find out what she has gotten into and take her back.
