名词的单复数的误用

【误】The aircrafts were damaged.

【正】The aircraft were damaged.

这些飞机损坏了。

aircraft单复数同型。

【误】Can you tell me some informations?

【正】Can you tell me some information?

你能告诉我一些信息吗？

物质名词和抽象名词一般都是不可数的。抽象名词没有复数形式。

【误】They have all the necessary equipments for the expedition.

【正】They have all the necessary equipment for the expedition.

他们已有了探险所需的各种设备。

equipment是个集体名词，无复数形式，指完成某项任务所需要的设备，如：

army equipment军队设备

the equipment of the laboratory实验设备

一般集体名词作主语时，谓语用单数，如：

baggage行李，weaponry武器

equipment设备，machinery机械

furniture家具

有些集体名词作主语时，如果把集体名词看成一个整体，谓语动词就用单数形式；如果强调群体中的各个成员，谓语用复数。

The committee meets at two today.

委员会今天2点开会。（整体）

The committee happly gather under the same roof.

委员会委员们欢聚一堂。（个体）

【误】Our hotel has ten mans servants and twenty woman servants.

【正】Our hotel has ten men-servants and twenty women-servants.

我们旅馆有十名男服务员和二十名女服务员。

复合名词的复数形式一般将第二个组成词变成复数，即使复合名词是由两个分开的词构成也是如此。但是，如果复合名词的第一组成词是man或woman，前后两个此都要变成复数，如：men-doctors，women-drivers，men-soldiers，women-singers。

固定词组中的名词错误

主要是动词词组、名词词组、介词词组中名词的误用。这些词组属于固定搭配，不能用同义词或者近义词替代。

如：on the contrary（正相反）和by/in contrast（对比之下）。contrary和contrast不能互换。

【误】I believe you like your job; on the contrast, I find it rather dull.

【正】I believe you like your job; on the contrary, I find it rather dull.

我相信你喜欢你的工作，相反，我觉得它颇为枯燥。

on the contrast表示转折，是固定词组。by contrast表示对照关系，也可以表示转折。如：

Cloudy days tend to make us gloomy; sunny days, by contrast, make us cheerful.

乌云密布的天气令人沮丧，相比之下，阳光明媚的日子让人快乐。

【误】You ought to be home by 12 o'clock. Keep that in head.

【正】You ought to be home by 12 o'clock. Keep that in mind.

你应该12点钟前回家。请记住。

keep in mind是固定词组，表示“记住”。keep/bear something in mind中的mind不能用head替代。
