CPKC制定新的减排目标；NS跻身“净零”领导者之列

Canadian Pacific Kansas City yesterday announced its commitment to develop a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target aligned with a 1.5-degree Celsius future and supporting the global economy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
With this commitment, made following the combination of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern, CPKC joins the Science Based Targets initiative's (SBTi) Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C global campaign, which includes alignment in supporting the global economy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, CPKC officials said in a press release.
"This represents an important milestone in the sustainability journey for the new CPKC," said President and CEO Keith Creel. “This new commitment builds on the foundational work addressing climate change already underway, including our industry-leading Hydrogen Locomotive Program."
Meanwhile, Norfolk Southern Railway has been included among Forbes' Net Zero Leaders 2023 for the company’s carbon reduction goals and sustainability initiatives.
The list features 100 U.S. companies that are “best positioned to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and transition to a low-carbon economy by 2050,” NS officials said in a press release. Forbes also considers factors such as the robustness of companies' climate governance, strategy and risk management, as well as an assessment of competitive strength and financial position.
