The Max Planck Graduate Center for Quantum Materials (MPGC-QM) currently has an open call for multiple fully funded PhD student positions.

Seven Max Planck Institutes (Berlin, Dresden, Erlangen, Hamburg, Halle and Stuttgart) - all of them world-leading institutions in their respective fields - bring together their expertise in the research on quantum materials and thus offer a truly unique graduate program in this intriguing research area.

2 Your profile

Are you interested? We invite highly motivated students with strong commitment to basic science from all over the world to apply to our international program centered on quantum materials.

Applicants should hold an MSc (or equivalent degree) with a strong background in physics, chemistry, mathematics or computer science, have first knowledge of solid-state science, excellent English language skills and a drive to pursue their PhD in an international and multidisciplinary setting.

Outstanding candidates with a first-class four-year BSc degree (or equivalent degree) are eligible to apply for the fast-track option.

1 简介

巫茂春博士现为香港理工大学机械工程系助理教授、校长青年学者、博士生导师、独立PI。巫博士2014年本科毕业于华南理工大学，同年赴香港科技大学机械系攻读博士学位，师从赵天寿院士。2018年获得博士学位后留组从事博士后研究，并于2020年晋升为香港科技大学机械系研究助理教授。巫茂春博士于2021年12月加入香港理工大学机械工程系。巫茂春博士主要研究方向为电化学储能，包括固态锂电池、锌基电池、液流电池、金属空气电池等。近年来以第一/通讯作者在Advanced Energy Materials, Nano Energy, Energy Storage Materials等刊物发表多篇学术论文。具体研究工作请见：

2 研究兴趣

本课题组致力于开发安全、高比能电化学储能技术，包括液流电池、水系锌电池、金属空气电池、固态锂电池等。

主要研究方向：

电池中的流动-传递-反应耦合特性研究；
界面质荷传递与强化；
高性能电池材料设计与开发；
新型电池结构设计与开发。

3 招生要求

博士后（Postdoctoral Fellow）:

1、具有电池/能源/催化等相关专业领域博士学位；

2、以第一作者在相关领域国际高水平期刊上发表过2篇及以上学术论文；

3、工作认真踏实，有责任心和团队合作精神，具有独立研究能力及较高执行力；

4、具有良好的英文写作、阅读和表达能力。

薪酬待遇不低于每月26000港币，具体薪酬面议（能尽快入职的优先考虑）。

博士生（Ph.D. student）：

1. 能源、化工、电化学或材料等相关专业的硕士生或优秀本科生，原则上本科毕业于国内双一流高校或QS/THE/ARWU排名前500高校，加权成绩 ≥ 85/100，或GPA ≥ 3.2/4.0；

2. 热爱科研，吃苦耐劳并具有较强的动手能力；

3. 英语成绩IELTS ≥ 6.5，各项成绩不低于5.5；或TOEFL ≥ 80。若目前暂无英文成绩，也可先行联系，过后补交；

4. 以第一或第二作者发表高水平研究型论文者优先（非硬性要求）；

5. 学校提供众多奖学金机会。凡入学者享受PolyU Research Postgraduate Scholarship全额资助，每月至少获得18000港币，涵盖在香港学习、生活开支。同时，课题组将协助特别优秀的学生申请RGC Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme，入选者将获每月27100港币奖学金以及每年13600港币会议资助；或PolyU Presidential PhD Fellowship Scheme，入选者将获每月26800港币奖学金以及合计25000港币会议资助。

金卫(Wei Jin）是埃默里大学(Emory University）计算机系助理教授

金卫本科就读于浙江大学，后于2023年用四年时间从密歇根州立大学取得了博士学位。他的研究成果显著，其论文累计引用量近2000次，并多次发表在如ICLR, KDD, ICML, NeurlPS, www, SIGIR,AAAl等机器学习和数据科学的顶级会议上。他翻译了图神经网络领域的经典学术著作《图深度学习》，中文版广受欢迎。金卫曾荣获Snap ResearchFellowship、SDM Best Poster Award Honorable Mention及MSUOutstanding Graduate等奖项，并在3个NeurlPS竞赛中取得了卓越成绩。他工业界工作经验丰富，曾多次在Amazon及Snap Research实习，并与IBM Research、VMware、百度等知名企业有过深度合作，会积极给学生推荐实习、合作和交流机会。他是KDD CUP 2023的主办者，并在KDD’20,KDD’21,AAAI’20，AAAI’21上组织并主讲了图深度学习和可信人工智能相关的教学讲座。想了解更多关于导师的信息，请访问其个人主页:

3 Tasks

Successful applicants will be assigned two supervisors and will join one of our research centres and contribute to the objectives of the respective centres.

PhD students will gain teaching experience through our PGR teaching programme and will be expected to teach one or more core modules (Public Law, Criminal Law, Contract Law, Tort Law, Equity and Trusts, and Property Law), or other modules as directed by the Head of School (https://www.southampton.ac.uk/doctoral-college/researcher-resources/policy.page).
