Anticipated difficulties and solutions
When analysing problems with MFPA, it is useful to consider the following:
diffculies with meaning,
what type of word it is,
where the word is placed in a sentence,
which sounds might be difficult for students,
which part of the word is stressed
and whether it is formal, informal or neutral.
Each solution should be appropriate to the problem. This could involve
referring back to the context,
using planned concept questions,
using colours on the board to highlight form,
eliciting the correct version from students,
using the phonemic script to help with difficult sounds,
and drilling sentences.
