Comparative Adjectives (比较级形容词）: Quantifiers（量词）

Comparative adjectives are used to compare two things. Quantifiers show if the difference is big or small. 

比较形容词是用来比较两个事物的。量词显示差异是大还是小。

Quantifiers showing a big difference（表示差异很大的量词）

a lot (informal)  /a great deal / far/ much/ significantly/ considerably/ way (informal)

Quantifiers showing a small difference（表示差异不大的量词）

a little /a bit (informal) /slightly /marginally /a shade /a hair/ a tad (informal) 

These quantifiers can be used both to show a “more” difference and a “less” difference: 

（这些量词既可以表示比较大的差异，也可以表示比较小的差异）

例句1：This car is a bit more expensive than this motorcycle. 这辆小汽车比这辆摩托车贵一点。

例句2：This motorcycle is a bit less expensive than this car. 这辆摩托车比这辆汽车便宜一点。

例句3：This house is way bigger than that apartment. 这房子比那间公寓大多了。

例句4：That apartment is way smaller than this house. 那间公寓比这栋房子小多了。

⚠️These quantifiers CANNOT be used with the not as ___ as structure: 

这些量词不能与not as____as结构一起使用：

My brother is much not as old as me. ❌

My brother is much younger than me. ✅

我弟弟比我小很多。

Jill is a little not as tall as Kim. ❌

Jill is a little shorter than Kim. ✅
