亮爪呆在原地，被那只凶猛的狐狸惊呆了。她本想溜走，但正努力掩饰自己的恐惧。

暗崽冲出灌木丛，竖起毛发，盯着狐狸。

“愚蠢的幼崽。”狐狸咆哮道：“你的祖父母没跟你们说过月吗？”

暗崽不敢相信她的眼睛。

“它会说话……这意味着我们可以信任它吗？”亮爪有些怀疑地喵道。

“傻子！我叫月，如果你不知道的话。”月走得更近了，“我是和平地来的。但我会带着亮爪去执行任务。”

“不，你不会的！”暗崽怒气冲冲地说：“如果你乐意试试，来跟我打一架！”

“你真的认为一个甚至不能为自己捕猎的幼崽，能和一只成年狐狸月作战吗？”月差点笑了。

“等等，”亮爪轻声喵道，“你怎么知道我的名字的？”

“别再问那些幼稚的问题了，”月亮说道，“我很久前救了你们的祖先。我知道你们的族群，我知道你们的星族及星族愚蠢的信息和预言。我知道你们所做的一切！”

“你，”月转向暗崽，“记得告诉你们的族猫，继续把月的故事讲给小猫！现在快回家，把亮爪留给我！”

“亮爪，你不能……”

“我去。”亮爪打断了她：“告诉白星我在穿过雷鬼路时被怪兽杀死了，这样他们就不会试图找我了。”

“亮爪！”

月亮伸出尖爪。“听你姐姐的话。有时必须做出改变，而你无法决定。”

“我不会说谎！”暗崽咆哮着。

“你当然会的。”月似乎愤怒而凶残，“我必须挠开你的脸让你明白？”

暗崽大声哭着跑开了。

“该死！我们终于在这里找到你了！”斑耳惊讶地叫了起来。

“亮爪在哪里？”蝰蛇尾问道。

“她，她……她在雷鬼路上被怪兽撞了。”暗崽哭了。

“什么？”斑耳喵着：“太可悲了！她是个有前途的学徒。”

“我想我们没时间把她的尸体抬回去了。”蝰蛇尾叹了口气，“干旱越来越严重了，暗崽。我只能向白星报告这事。我们会难过很长一段时间。我希望她在星族过上更好的生活。”

有一心跳的时间，暗崽想说实话，但什么也说不出来。

“每只猫都会在生命的尽头加入星族，你妹妹只是太小就加入了群星。但她不是银河中最年轻的猫，是吗？”白星试着安慰暗崽。“现在去灰心那里学习武士技能。你需要赶上其他学徒。”

Chapter 5

Brightpaw stayed where she were, stunned by the fierce-looking fox. She had thought of slipping away, but she's trying hard to hide her fear. 

Darkkit dashed out of the bushes, fur straightend, staring at the fox.

"Stupid kits." the fox growled, "Haven't your grandparents told ya about Moon?"

Darkkit couldn't believe her eyes.

"It can speak......Does that mean we can trust it?" Brightpaw mewed in disbelief.

"Fools! My name is Moon, if you don't know." Moon walked closer, "I come in peace. But I will take Brightpaw away for a mission."

"No you won't!" Darkkit bristled, "Come and fight me if you like!"

"Do you really think a kit who couldn't even hunt for itself, can fight Moon, a fully-grown fox?" Moon nearly laughed.

"Wait," Brightpaw mewed quietly, "How did you know my name?"

"Stop asking those childish questions," Moon awnsered,"I saved your ancestors a long time ago. I know the clans, I know your StarClan and its stupid messages. I know everything you do! "

"You," Moon turned to Darkkit, "Remember to tell your clanmates, keep telling Moon's stories to kits! Now just hurry back home and leave Brightpaw with me! "

"Brightpaw, you can't......"

"I will go."Brightpaw interruped, "Tell Whitestar I was killed by a monster when trying to cross that Thunderpath, so they won't try to find me."

"Brightpaw!"

Moon unsheathed his claws."Listen to your sister. Sometimes changes have to be made and you couldn't decide."

"I won't tell lies!" Darkkit roared.

"Of course you will." Moon seemed angry and murderous, "Or I have to claw your face to make you understand?"

Darkkit cried out loud and ran away. 

"Darkkit! we find you here at last!" Patchear mewed in surprise.

"Where's Brightpaw?" Addertail asked.

"She, she......She was crashed by a monster on a Thunderpath."Darkkit mewed with tears.

"What?" Patchear mewed, "That's too sad! She was a promising apprentice."

"I guess we don't have time to carry her body back." Addertail signed, "The drought is getting worse, Darkkit. I could only report this to Whitestar. We will be sad for a long while. I hope she lives a better life in StarClan."

For a heartbeat, Darkkit wanted to tell the truth, but couldn't say anything.

"Every cat joins StarClan in the end of their life, your sister just joined the stars too young. But she's not the youngest cat in Silverpelt, is she?" Whitestar tried to confort Darkkit."Now go to Grayheart and learn warrior skills. You need to catch up with the other apprentices."
