Metropolis is a classic science fiction film directed by German director Fritz Lang of 1927. It had an exhorbitant budget of 5.3 million ℛℳ (equivalent to € 21 million in 2021). The movie was a commercial failure, only garnering a dismal 75,000 ℛℳ (€1 million in 2021.) However, the film has since taken on cult popularity and is widely regarded as a masterpiece of early cinema. The screenplay was written by Thea von Harbou and based on a novel of the same name written in 1925, which was intended to raise interest in the picture as well as provide a more fleshed out backstory to the film's characters and events.

Klingon Version

In preparation for January 1st, 2023 (the date when the film went back into the public domain,) Jack Bradley translated the film into Klingon as veng'a' (literally "major city".)
