Task 2: Human activities have negative effects on plant and animal species.Some people think that it is too late to do anything about this problem. Other people believe that effective measures can be taken to improve this situation. Discuss both views and give your opinions.

Sofia范文：

In the twenty-first century,swelling ranks of living species are dying out or at the very edge of extinction. Regarding this, people differ about whether there are still some feasible measures available to reverse this trend. 

Those who are pessimistic contend that we humans can do nothing to prevent plant and animal species to become extinct, as in this era of industrialization, a wide range of them have been disappearing, because of aggressive and uncontrolled human activities. For example，according to state media，deforestation, over-cultivation as well as over-grazing are making many living species endangered on a global scale.  Another vivid example is that plenty of rare animals like elephants, peacocks and alligators are being overhunted and dying out because of the cruel pursuit for animal-based manufactures like ivory decorations. Therefore, these people argue that it is too late to better the situation as it is impossible to revivethese extinct species.
