【雅思口语 5-8月】迷路 ? An occasion when you lo

Luckily, I don’t easily get lost. And if my memory serves me right, the last time I lost my way was when I was still a primary school kid. So basically, my dad took me to a huge shopping mall. We were quickly walking past the school supply section when suddenly a sticker sheet caught my attention.
I was so fascinated that before I’d realized it, I lost track of time as well as any sight of my father. I walked around, but he’s still no where to be found. And what’s worse, I couldn’t find my way back either. The huge mall was completely new and unfamiliar to me. That’s when it occurred to me that I had become lost.
Disoriented, I started to panic. At first I just froze there, feeling overwhelmed. Then stress and anxiety washed over me as I thought of all the horrible ways I could get kidnapped. I cried in despair, but no one came to my rescue. I soon realized I had to rely on myself to find the way. So I took a deep breath and quickly gathered myself, as well as all the rational brain cells an eight-year-old could have, and asked the nearest staff for directions.
With the help of the staff and the big signs in the mall, I finally found my way to the parking lot. Then through some trial and error, I successfully located my dad’s car. So I waited there, hoping no dodgy stranger would beat my dad to it. Eventually, when I saw my dad walk towards me a while later, I cried again, this time in relief.
It’s been ages since this nerve-racking incident, but that feeling of helplessness still haunts me from time to time. So that’s why growing up, I’ve always been mindful to develop a good sense of direction. I’ve almost never got lost since then.
