1998年，霍夫曼教授在不来梅大学获得了水生地球化学博士学位。1999年在美因茨大学依次从事博士后研究和担任助理教授。2005 年起担任维也纳大学环境地球科学学院的正教授和主席。他于 2006 年至 2012 年担任地球科学、地理和天文学学院副院长，然后担任学院院长至 2016 年。2014年创立维也纳大学环境研究网络并担任主任；该网络包括来自自然科学、社会科学、人文科学、法律和经济学的 230 多名科学家，旨在应对当今的环境挑战。他发表了 170 多篇同行评审论文，并获得了德国学术奖学金基金会、柏林工业大学和德国水化学学会的奖项。霍夫曼教授在 2017年被任命为美国杜克大学土木与环境工程系兼职正教授，2018年被聘为天津南开大学环境科学与工程学院客座教授。

报告摘要

  The production and use of industrial, agricultural and consumer products lead to the emission of emerging pollutants into the environment such as engineered nanoparticles (ENPs). Concerns arise over the possibility that ENPs might pose a threat to the environment, including drinking water and food supplies, but also provide great opportunities in plant agriculture. Investigations of ENPs are still hampered by the absence of suitable analytical methods that are capable of detecting and quantifying them in complex matrices and at very low concentrations. This knowledge is urgently needed for risk assessment and regulation. This talk will address opportunities and specific aspects concerning the detection and fate of nanoparticles and microplastic in agriculture.
