来到伯克岛 ，就像在大海的中央发现了一片巨大的森林。高大的山峰从海面伸出 ，直入那湛蓝的天空 ，峭壁间又依偎着一片葱郁的绿洲 。在概念中 ，艺术总监 Pierre Olivier Vincent 设想了一座相当于夏威夷毛纳基亚山三倍的山 ，尽管在最终版本中 ，规模并没有达到这一水平 ，但这座岛依旧给观众留下了深刻的印象 。“ 它的特色是抽象化的的外形所带来的奇异景象 ，并且以真实光照和材质渲染 ，给人一种立体感 。我们都认为伯克岛应该是你想去的一个地方 。” 制作设计师 Kathy Altieri 说 。

To come upon the isle of Berk is like discovering a monutainous forest in the middle of the ocean.Huge rocky peaks jut out from the sea and reach into the rich blue of the sky,with a lush,green oasis nestled between the precipices. At its con-ception,Art Director Pierre-Olivier Vincent envisioned a mountain so high as to triple the height of Hawaii's Mauna Kea, and although scale is not pushed to quite that level in the final version,the island still makes an impressive statement."It features landscapes that are made of stylized shapes to bring whimsy to the environment,but are treated with realistic lighting and surfacing to give a sense of tangible space.We all felt that Berk should be a place youwould want to visit,"says Production Designer Kathy Altieri.

   The crescent-shaped tip of the island is actually the only portion of Berk that has been fully modeled,"Every time you see Berk outside of the village,it's done by matte painting.They've created trees,rocks, distant snow,grass,and other amazing touches that do a great job giving scale and detail to the island,"notes Visual Effects Supervisor Craig Ring.
