China named its first Mars rover（火星车）"Zhurong", a god of fire in ancient Chinese stories, on April 24.

Showed at the opening of 2021 China Space Meeting in Nanjing, the name has the meaning of the rover's task to raise the hope of China's space exploration（探索）. And naming the rover after Zhurong is the act of joining modern science and traditional culture, and shows our country's spirit（精神）of exploration and confidence in its culture.

Zhurong is part of the space task "Tianwen Ⅰ". It is China's first spacc task about Mars, which is done alone. And it began in July last year when the probe（航天探测器）of the same name took off in Hainan.

Zhurong has successfully landed on Mars on May 15th this year. It touched down safely on the red planet and worked as planned. Zhurong is the sixth machine on Mars. If it acts well, it will work for at least three months on Mars.

The rover is 1.85 meters high and weighs about 240 kg. It has six wheels and can move at 200 meters an hour on Mars. It carries six scientific tools like special cameras. They can make sure the rover gets different information, such as the things the planet is made of, the environment and so on.
