不速的海外来客

Overseas visitor

严冬过去，迎来的是草长莺飞的季节。

Severe winter passed, and the spring season followed.

正在周兴和紧锣密鼓准备将事业发展到国外时，不知是上天旨意，还是命运安排，这一天，星河公司突然来了一位不速之客。

When Zhou Xinghe was preparing to develop the career abroad, nobody knew whether it was the god's will, or the fate arrangement, an uninvited guest suddenly came to Xinghe Company this day.

“周总，外面来了一个人，说无论如何都要亲自见您。”办公室董主任走进来，对周兴和讲道。

"Mr. Zhou, there is a person outside, saying he wants to see you personally." The Office Director Dong came in and spoke to Zhou Xinghe.

“是地方的领导还是外来客户？”周兴和抬头问道。

"Local leader or foreign client?" Zhou Xinghe asked, looking up.

“是个蓝眼睛的外国人，我们听不懂他咿哩哇哪说些什么，就叫来翻译小姚来问他，”董主任接着说道，“可他就是不表明自己的身份，只说他从国外来，要直接找您。”

"A blue-eyed foreigner; we couldn't understand what he said, so we sent Yao to translate and ask him," Dong continued. "But he didn't say who he was, only that he came from abroad and wanted to see you directly."

“那，你把他带到这里来吧。”周兴和想想了，“叫小姚翻译陪他一起来。

"Well, bring him in." Zhou Xinghe thought, "Ask the interpreter Yao to accompany him."

随着门口的脚步声，进来一个人。周兴和抬头一看，此人西装革履，眼睛明亮，蓄着满腮银白的胡子，咋一看，真有点像西方的圣诞老人。走进屋来，他对周兴和微微一欠身，操着一口流利的英语礼貌地说了几句话。

With the sound of footsteps at the door, a man came in. Zhou Xinghe looked up, and saw a man dressed in a suit and tie, with bright eyes and silver whiskers. At first, he was looked a bit like Santa Claus in the West. When he entered the room, he bowed slightly to Zhou Xinghe and said a few words politely in fluent English.

小姚立即向周兴和翻译道：“董事长，他问您，您在星河公司说话能算数吗？”

Yao immediately translated to Zhou Xinghe: "Chairman, he asked you, are you in charge in Xinghe Company?"

“我在星河公司说话应该还算数吧。”周兴和笑了一下站起来，和来人握了一下手，客气地指了指沙发，“听说您从国外来，不知找我有什么事？”

"I think I am in charge in Xinghe Company." Zhou Xinghe stood up with a smile, shook hands with the visitor, and pointed politely to the sofa, "I heard that you are from abroad. I wonder what you want to see me about?"

“哦，原来您就是董事长先生。”来人坐下，从皮夹里掏出一张名片，递给小姚，“我，是专程从国外来。” 

"Oh, so you are Mr. Chairman." The man sat down, took out a business card from his wallet and handed it to Yao. "I'm coming specially," he said.

小姚看了一下名片，递给周兴和：“名片上说，他是瑞典皇家科学研究院研究员——努努博士。”

Yao looked at the card and handed it to Zhou Xinghe. "It says he is Dr. Nunu, a researcher at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences."

“瑞典皇家研究院的博士研究员？”周兴和闻言感到有点诧异。此人专程从国外赶来，来干什么呢？可我们并没有接到外事部门的通知呀！他接过名片看了一下，忍不住又打量了这个叫“努努”的老人一眼。

"A Ph.D. researcher at the Royal Swedish Academy?" Zhou Xinghe felt a little surprised. Why did the man come all the way from abroad? But we hadn't received any notice from the foreign affairs department. He took the card for a look and couldn't help but take another look at the old man named "Nunu".

来人似乎看出了主人眼中的疑惑，他又掏出两本证件递给周兴和。一本是他的护照，另一本是瑞典皇家科学院的身份证件。两个证件都是英文，周兴和虽不认识，但上面都贴着此人照片，照片上盖着钢印，他知道，这两种证件一般人是造不了假的。

The visitor seemed to see the doubt in the master's eyes. He took out two more certificates and handed them to Zhou Xinghe. One was his passport and the other was an I.D. of the Royal Swedish Academy. Both of them were in English, and although Zhou Xinghe did not know English, they were pasted with the man's photo, which was covered with steel seals. Zhou knew that the ordinary people could not make a fake one.

“哦，努努先生原来是瑞典皇家研究院的科学家？”周兴和将证件还给努努先生，他吩咐董主任给客人泡茶后，客气地问道。

"Oh, Mr. Nunu, a scientist at the Royal Swedish Academy?" Zhou Xinghe returned the certificate to Mr. Nunu, and asked the director to make tea for the guest and asked politely.

“我瑞典籍人。”努努答道，“但我一年四季像只候鸟，都在世界各地飞来飞去。”

可这位努努先生并不急于回答周兴和的问题，他又从皮夹里掏出一张打印纸，递到周兴和面前：“请问董事长先生，这张广告是你们发出的吗？”

But Mr. Nunu was in no hurry to answer Zhou Xinghe's question. He took out a piece of printed paper from his wallet and handed it to Zhou Xinghe. "Excuse me, Mr. Chairman, did you send out this advertisement?"

周兴和一看，原来这是他们公司在国际互联网上发出的那份广告：“若您在地球含月球上，能寻找到与星河公司相同的材料、其质量与性能都能超过或等同的产品，请带上相关证据来星河公司领奖。每找出一个新产品或老产品，本公司奖励人民币80万元；如能找到比本公司更优质的产品，本公司奖励500万美元”。现在，这位努努先生把它下载了下来。

Zhou Xinghe saw that it was the advertisement his company had put out on the Internet: "If you can find the same material on the Earth including the Moon, the quality and performance of which can exceed or equivalent to the product of Xinghe Company, please bring relevant evidence to Xinghe Company to accept the award. For each new or old product found, the Company will reward RMB 800,000 yuan; if you can find a better product than our company, we will reward 5 million dollars." Now, Mr. Nuno had downloaded it.

“对，这是我们公司发出的广告。”周兴和心里一惊，马上明白了什么，但他立即肯定地答道。

“我从书本上看到过，说你们中国人很守信用。”努努先生蓝色的眼睛盯住周兴和，一字一句地问道，“你们这份公开承诺，能真正兑现吗？”

“我们既然向全世界公开作出这样的承诺，只要你能提供有力的证据，我们肯定兑现！”周兴和毫不犹豫地回答他，“而且，您如果能在我们这里得到这份奖励，我们一定会感到高兴——因为它证明世界上还有比我们更好的技术，值得我们学习和借鉴，这能使我们看到自己产品的差距，把我们的产品做得更好。”

"Since we have made such a promise publicly to the whole world, if you can provide strong evidence, we will certainly keep our promise!" Zhou Xinghe did not hesitate to answer him, "Moreover, if you can get this award from us, we will be very happy - because it proves that there are better technologies in the world than ours, which is worth us to learn from. It can help us to see the weak of our products and make our products better."

“我就是看到这份广告，专门来领奖的。”努努博士毫不隐晦地表明了来意，说着从包里又掏出几份文件和产品检测资料，摆在了周兴和面前，“这些就是我带来的证据，这些检测数据是从德国的产品上得到的。”

"I had saw this advertisement and came here to accept the reward." Dr. Nunu made his point bluntly, pulling several more documents and product tests out of his bag and presenting them to Mr. Zhou. "This is the evidence I have brought with me," he said. "These test data are from the German products."

“小姚，你马上把这些资料翻译出来。”周兴和对小姚说道。

"Yao, please translate these materials right away." Zhou Xinghe said to Yao.

小姚不愧是外语学院毕业的高材生，不一会儿就把翻译好的文件和资料放到了周兴和面前。周兴和仔细看完相关文件和检测报告，他一下笑了起来，亲切地坐在了努努博士面前：“尊敬的努努先生，感谢您给我们提供了这些资料，但同时我还要告诉您，您的这些检测报告都是真实的。”

Yao was worthy of being a top student graduated from the Foreign Language Institute, and soon put the translated documents and materials in front of Zhou Xinghe. After carefully reading the relevant documents and test reports, Zhou Xinghe smiled and sat down kindly in front of Dr. Nunu. “你说什么？这是不可能的事！德国的秸秆建材产品，我绝对相信是全世界最好的。”努努博士收敛了笑容，问，“董事长先生，你能给我解释这是为什么吗？”

"What did you say? It's impossible! I absolutely believe Germany straw building materials products are the world's best." Dr. Nunu stopped smiling and asked, "Mr. Chairman, can you explain to me why you said so?"

“您的这些检测资料，确实有2项指标和性能超出了我们公司的产品。但，我们的产品总共有17项指标。”周兴和递给努努博士本公司的产品检测数据表，继续对他说道，“这17项产品指标，其实只要有9项超出或等同于我们公司的产品，我们就可以给您奖励。”

"There are really two indicators and performances that exceed our company's products in your test data. But we have a total of 17 indicators." 努努博士疑惑地接过周兴和递给他的资料，逐项仔细地对照了各项数据后，显得有些失望。良久，他抬起头对周兴和说道：“您相信我给您提供的检测报告，当然我也相信您们产品的性能指标——但，董事长先生，您能允许我到工作现场，亲眼验证一下你们的产品，亲自印证一下你们的这些性能指标吗？”

Puzzled, Dr. Nunu took the data Zhou handed to him and carefully compared them item by item, finally looking disappointed. After a long time, he looked up at Zhou Xinghe and said, "You believe in the test report I have given you, and of course I believe in the performance indicators of your products - but, Mr. Chairman, could you allow me to go to the work site and verify your products and the performance indicators by myself?"

“当然可以。”周兴和大度地回答，“努努先生不愧是个严肃的科学家——好，我授权给您，我们的工作现场，任何一个角落您都可以参观；我们的产品，任何一种您都可以检测；我们的检测数据，任何一项您都可以亲自验证。”

"Sure." Zhou Xinghe graciously replied, "Mr. Nunu is a serious scientist - well, I authorize you to visit any corner of our work site; you can test any type of our products, and you can verify any of our test data by yourself."
