37 Lesson 6 - Foolproof Photobashing Part 5 - Nighttime Color P37 - 00:01夜间图谱。
Hey, welcome back. You’re probably thinking, okay, Airi, what are you going to do this time? Well, this time we’re going to turn this piece on its head. Instead of making little red our focus, I’m going to make the house our focus instead.
P37 - 00:20本次的聚焦点,是房子非小红帽。
And you ask Airi, how are you going to do that? Well, it's simple. Really. We're now going to take this into a night time piece. So something like this or something like this. These two are so similar. They're basically the same thing. I like the colors of this one, a little bit better. So I'm gonna stick with this one for now. But this is what we are going to do next.

since you already saw us change the color easily like multiple times now, from the cinema demo to our bird hat pancake demo all the way to this demo, we change the color multiple times. We're not going to focus that much on changing the color any more. But let's focus on how to do some special effects such as this window in this light coming out of this window.
P37 - 01:11聚焦灯光如何从窗户中打出来。
So the first thing we're gonna do is we're going to get the color similar to this and then we would tackle our house.

The light of my resto is going to be this color. The dark of my snow is going to be this color.

So knowing that, let's get right to it.

By this point, you've probably seen this process multiple times.

I'm not going to waste your time by explaining every single little tiny layer of multiply that I did and said, I'm gonna go over a few key aspects that I had in mind when I was doing this night time piece that I didn't have in mind when I was doing a none night time piece.

everything the dark shade or shadow blue. And I also replaced the sky with a nighttime sky because at night time I covered everything into a shadow. So that's the blue color. And the light color, which is orange is something that I will leave out specifically the lights that our house will be casting because there's glow from inside the house.

This light is artificial light, so as you remember is going to be in a radio effect where it is strongest where the source is which is the house, which is why the house is lit.

And then it will be the weakest as it slowly wins out in the area. Yeah, I take a lot of time to make sure that I get the shadows accurate as some colouring in the house in the shadows. I really just ask myself one question of where is the light coming from and how do I think that it will affect the house?

And that question alone basically serves my entire basis for how I color and shadow everything.

All you gotta ask yourself is if the window is here, the light is coming from here. Will it hit this area or will it not hit this area?

To be quite honest, aren't really is just that simple. When it comes to shading things. If life doesn't hit that area, then it doesn't hit that area. They just make it a little bit darker.
P37 - 03:13光打不到的地方是更暗。
Of course, simple does not mean easy. It does take a while for you to be able to naturally have an intuition of where light hits. And where light does not hit.
P37 - 03:22足够的训练,直觉知道光打在哪。
So while I am not using any reference here, I strongly encourage you. If you don't know how to shade something, definitely look at proper reference.

The more you look at references, the more you follow it. The more that you will also develop your own natural intuition.

Like this is looking pretty good. I would say.

P37 - 07:13看起来不错。
I can definitely feel like the house is glowing, but the house currently has no light source. Obviously, you can see that here from this window. This is the light source.
P37 - 07:26参考图的房子内部有光源。
We need something similar in order to have our house be the same way. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna take this house right here and we're just going to steal their windows, like a thief in the night.

The reason why I am stealing this window on the Top layer is because if we put it in the bottom layers and its going to get affected. So let me show you what I mean by that.

So I'm just going to quickly copy paste this window. If I put it underneath these other layers here, then well,

number one, it disappears. But number two, it basically gets affected by the color, which is not something that we want putting it down into lights, as you can see that it's not the color we want.
P37 - 08:14放在锃亮层下面,不是灯色。
We want it to be a pure bright orange.
P37 - 08:17我们要橘黄色的纯灯光。
So we're gonna put it at the very Top, just like that. It gets small. They get small to put it one here.

Another one is here. Another one right here can emerge these layers. So we have three of them together. And I'm just going to ever so quickly lasso tool out my window.

Right there. Immediately we get this feeling of light coming through the house windows right there.

Now I think that rather than this door being here, I'm gonna do the exact same thing. But with this right here, we are just breaking and entering this poor house. But you know what? I'm sure that the house would be okay with it. So we're going to turn it into something beautiful.

And now let's select out our door. So. Obviously, there are some parts in here that I don't want, such as this little window section. So I'm just gonna take my brush in and brush it out.

P37 - 09:19门灯就擦去窗户的痕迹。
Now one of the most important things to selling this is that there's this light, this glow coming out of this window.
P37 - 09:29重要的是灯从窗户射出来。
So we're gonna try to imitate the exact same glow. The first thing I'm gonna do before I do that, it's not a touch these a little bit more. Just they feel a little bit deeper and a little bit more inside.

Ok, perfect. So are glow. We’ll do a new layer up here. And we're going to use the, I will say the color dodge tool. Again, for this stuff, you just gotta keep on testing it out until you get the effect that you want. So color dodge tool using this to unlock our true potential.

P37 - 10:00颜色减淡用于门灯。
And of course, get rid of the light from this giant pole that's in the front. And you can really start to see a glow happening here. I'm going to try to bump this up by adding an overlay layer. And if we don't like overlay, then i'll probably go for a soft light.

But overlay is working pretty well, as you can see. And we're also gonna use the overlay layer to lighten up some of these areas here.
P37 - 10:36重叠,点亮屋檐。
So you can see that there's this strong white light coming from the window that is hitting the house.

So we want to be able to imitate the same by using the overlay layer and going over our polls.

If it is not enough, we can go to a color dodge layer and add a bit more. Yeah, that is really popping. Look at that.
P37 - 11:02切换到颜色减淡模式,增补柱光。
Now our house has a door and the light, the last thing we're gonna do is some touch UPS here and there. For example, I want to add some more glow to my snow.
P37 - 11:15给雪增加点光。
So that's kind of glowing from the light. As soon as I put that glow down, it really feels like light is streaming through the house and just hitting onto the snow.

I'm going to also add some highlights here. It's a really subtle about this.

It's a little bit too strong when i zoom out and look at it. So taking a little bit away, I'm gonna take away my reference image.

Take a look, looking pretty good so far I would say. one thing I would note though, is that you see how the house has such dark shadows. First of all, that is a good thing that the house has such dark shadows because this is where all the contrast comes in.

If you're going to have a source of light that is obviously going to be some kind of strong source of shadow.
P37 - 12:17多强的光对应多强的阴影。
But you see the tree in the background like here, it's starting to blend into the house a little bit.

So I'm gonna use my lighten layer. So this was my original lighten layer, as you can see from the previous image. And we're gonna delete that because we don't need this anymore.

Delete all of this, add a new lighten layer. So clipping mask, lighted to lighten.
P37 - 12:40新剪贴模版,锃亮模式。
Okay, yeah. That's starting to look really good. Now I'm going to do some final last touch UPS by going in cleaning stuff up and doing my paint over Layer.

P37 - 12:53清理后,做喷涂涂层。
after we do that paint over, we're gonna do our reflection on the water.

And that will be it. That will be our final piece. Let's go in and paint some stuff over. Cool.

And This is really exciting guys because now we are in our final stretch were the only things we really need to do left are the reflection.

So that is both the sky as well as the house. And then we have our final edits.

There is absolutely nothing new when it comes to reflecting the sky. I'm doing the exact same thing that I did in the previous demo, where I take this sky, I copy it, I flip it over, and then I put it on Top of my lake. And again, same procedure with reflection for both little red and the house. I use my handy dandy snap tool using our very chunky but very effective method to copy both little red in the house, flip them upside down and give them a little bit of motion blur.

Darken them ever so slightly, and lower the opacity.

That gives you a full proof reflection. And.

so that takes care of one of the two things that we had left to do.

Our last, of course, being the fun adjustments going into selective color as well as color look up.

this all really standard stuff. In fact, it's basically clockwork at this point. And with that, my honoured guests, this piece is done. Can you believe it? So we have successfully changed our focus from a little red and shifted it to our house.

Now I want you to look at this piece in black and white because you see how the point of the highest contrast rests very clearly with our house with little red riding hood.

It is because of that strong contrast that we are able to switch our focus. I want you to realize as well. Do you see how clear everything reads in black and white? How you can clearly tell there's a light coming from the house? This is the sign. It's staple of a good valued piece,

where not only does it make sense in color, but it also makes solid sense in black and white.
P37 - 16:04黑白图清晰,颜色有层次感。
If I was unable to tell what was happening in black and white, then something is very wrong with the piece by using good references, by using our wits and by using our powerful drawing hand. We were able to achieve such an effect and create a finished concept piece.

It's kind of incredible that we got all the way here. So far. We've done now three different versions of this same piece.
