Standardization, Army Improvement of M14

From 1945 to 1954，john garland spent 9years designing M1.

M14 was a offically named，not Garland.

full name is M14 Type Rifles.

It has a air-conducting gun，

selector lock，

semi-automatic locking.

air gun weight 4.5kg，

559mm barrel，

1118mm full length.

muzzle velocity 850m per sencond，

recoil energy 17.3Joules，

range approximately 700m.

May i say that，

it was lighter than Browning，

and  muzzle speed was almost the same.

In 1953，

Driven by the idea of Standardization, 

North Atlantic Treaty Organization，

NATO began to use standard ammunition uniformly.

7.62×51mm is  product of the idea of Standard Ammunition.(S.A.)

7.62 mm rifle cartridges used to assemble M14 up to now.

M14 was used for ten years.

US army stopped purchasing M14 in 1963，

cause it is not as good as AK-47 melee.

In1969，

M14 change to M21.

M21 Sniper Weapon System.

2001--now

Afghanistan battlefield，

M14 restored by AME snipers.

it's slow，

but it can hit the target，isn't it .

plus a sight，a tripod，

more accurate.

In Yom Kippur War ，

IDF received M14Sniper's Weapon System assistance.
