Well, last year in August, we threw a party for my grandma’s 90th birthday. It’s such a big day for her and for all the rest of my family members. So we went to this really nice resort out of town, about 100 miles northeast of Beijing. It’s an ancient town refurbished a couple of years ago, absolutely beautiful, and so perfect for sightseeing. And I also love the hotel we stayed in, where we had our party for grandma. There’s about almost 20 of us. We had a big lunch, a couple round of drinks, took lots of photos and videos. My grandma was obviously very happy, having all her loved ones around, especially the grandchildren. I’d say that was much of a typical Chinese birthday party. You just basically sit together, eat, drink and talk, not really much fancy stuff. But it’s good. It’s just so sweet and comfortable. I always think that when it comes to getting together, or partying, what we do together is definitely not as important as whom we do it with.

As the most effective communicating tool, language has attracted more and more students and parents. For me, I have been always interested in learning and mastering a new language as I am very keen in knowing about foreign culture and customs throughout the world. The foreign language except English that I would like to study is Japanese. Well, I think the best way for me to learn it is through watching Japanese cartoon and animation as they are not only easy to understand but also my real interests.

What’s more, to know more about the language itself, I think I need to take basic Japanese class or get a tutor to help me with grammatical knowledge plus necessary explanation, and travelling to Japan could be a good choice as well. However, there could be some hurdles such as complex grammar structure, a wide vocabulary needing memorize or no study partner. Though it is never an easy job, I am sure I can manage it well as long as I stick to a methodical study plan.
