Préjudice / prejudice
“Préjudice”（法）和“prejudice”（英）是一对典型的“假朋友”：看起来差不多，意思却完全不同。
“Préjudice”（法）和“prejudice”（英）是一对同源词，都源自拉丁词“prejudicium—— “pre-”（before）+“judicium” (judgement). 意为：“裁判之前”。
审判之前就有了“裁决” (jugement porté d'avance)，肯定是抱有“偏见”，当然“不公正”（injuste）啦；而“不公正”，就会造成“损害，伤害” （harm, damage，detriment）。
在现代法语里，“préjudice”保留了“损害，伤害”（tort, dommage）的意思。 例如：
Le préjudice atteint 800 euros.
The damage amounts to 800 euros.
损失高达800欧元。
La disparition des barrières de corail peut porter préjudice à l'industrie du tourisme
Loss of coral reefs can damage the tourism industry
珊瑚礁的消失会损害旅游业。
C’est au jury d’apprécier le préjudice subi par la victime.
It is for the jury to assess the loss suffered by the victim / the harm /damage done to the victim.
由陪审团评估受害人遭受的损失。
而英语的“prejudice”则保留了“偏见，成见，先入之见”（bias, preconceived idea）的意思, 常译为法语的"préjugé"。例如：
He always had a prejudice against colored people.
Il a toujours eu un préjugé contre les gens de couleur.
他一向对有色人种抱有成见。
Our neighbors have a prejudice against foreigners.
Nos voisins ont des préjugés contre les étrangers.
我们的邻居对外国人持有偏见。
It is essential that you should give a ruling on this case without prejudice.
Il est essentiel que vous statuiez sur ce cas sans parti pris.
重要的是，你应该公正地审理这个案子（不偏袒一方）。

英语的“prejudice”还可以作动词, 如：

1. 法语的“préjudice”没有“偏见，成见”的意思。先学过英语的人更要注意哦！
2. “Prejudice”固然是个贬义词，但“先入之见”既可以是“偏见，成见”，也可以是“偏向，偏袒”。所以，可以说：to be prejudiced in s.b’s favour （偏向某人）= avoir un préjugé favorable pour (à l’égard de) qqn.
3．英语的“prejudice”也有“损害，伤害”（damage, detriment）的意思，但仅限于法律，公文等领域. 如：“au préjudice de”= “to the prejudice of”（at the expense of）
