Jill:
Jill: G'evening...
Gillian:
Gillian: Hello.
Gillian:……!
Gillian: ...!
Gillian:
Gillian: Seems you made it just in time.
Jill:
Jill: I think that's just a car backfiring.
Gillian:
Gillian: Really? It sounded more like a gunshot to me.
Jill:
Jill: Have you ever heard gunshots?
Gillian:
Gillian: Haven't we all at some point?
Jill:
Jill: Yeah, well...
Jill:
Jill: See? Sounds more like a car's exhaust.
Gillian:
Gillian: I don't know... It's too dry.
Jill:
Jill: Yeah, but gunshots give more echo.
Dana:
Dana: What if it's a firecracker?
Jill:啊,boss。
Jill: Ah, boss.
Gillian:
Gillian: Firecrackers?
Dana:
Dana: Yup. A couple of years ago there was an incident where some dude killed a cop.
Dana: He managed to slip away because his pistol was mixed up with the usual Mega Christmas firecrackers.
Gillian:
Gillian: Nah, it sounded too hollow for firecrackers.
Dana:
Dana: Well, whatever. This is not a morning talk show.
Dana:
Dana: I'm not paying you to chit-chat about meaningless things.
Dana:……
Dana: ...at least not amongst yourselves.
Jill:
Jill: Right, we shouldn't lose time over a CAR'S EXHAUST.
Gillian:
Gillian: Hey!
Jill:
Jill: Heh.
Jill:
Jill: Time to mix drinks and change lives.
Jill: Welcome to Valhalla.
???: Hello, I'm looking for some information...

Jill:
Jill: What kind of information?
???: What can you tell me about a girl nicknamed "Crimson Rose"?
Jill:
Jill: Sounds like a tacky online handle.
Jill:
Jill: Although "tacky online handle" is a bit redundant.
???: Do you know anything about her?
Jill:
Jill: Nope, sorry.
???: I have $80 here that might refresh your memory.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Jill:
Jill: Now that you mention it, I remember something...
???: Really?!
Jill: Yeah. Now I'm totally sure that I have no idea whatsoever who you're talking about.
???: Nothing at all?
Jill:
Jill: Nothing.
???: Man, you're a sucky bartender. Not having any info I need.
Jill: *sigh* Well. First of all, why assume I just hAppen to have the info you conveniently need?
Jill: Does that girl frequent this place? Is there any proof that I might have the info you so desperately need?
???: Well, I...
Jill:
Jill: And second, you're not going to get anywhere by offering me physical money.
Jill: In fact, what are you doing with physical money? Do you wanna get mugged so badly?
???: Yeah, well...
Jill: MOREOVER, even if I did know something, do you really think $80 is enough?
Jill: You can do almost NOTHING with $80. It's not enough to have a decent lunch.
???: Why are you scolding me?
Jill: Why did you call me a sucky bartender for not conveniently having the info you need?
???: I...
???: Wait... of course! You want all deals to be clean, so you need me to spend money on the bar.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
???: That's how it works, right? I spend money. You give me the info.
Jill:……
Jill: ...maybe, maybe not.
???: Okay then, get me a drink, but keep it under $80.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
【gut punch】
Jill:请用。
Jill: Here.
???: Okay then. Do you know anything about the girl?
Jill:
Jill: No.
???: But you said...
Jill: "Maybe, maybe not". Turns out that it's maybe not.
Jill: You were the one deluding yourself into thinking I might know something.
Jill:
Jill: And like I said: $80 is nothing.
???: So -- I need to spend more?
Jill:
Jill: I'll give you some intel.
Jill: Spend all the money you want, but I know nothing and no amount will change that.
???: Can I at least get my money back?
Jill:
ill: Why? The order is right, isn't it?
Jill:请用。
Jill: Here.
???: Now THIS makes you a sucky bartender.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Jill:
Jill: ...I can change it if you want.
???: Nonononononono, don't.
???: In fact, I'll just forget the info thing.
Jill:
Jill: Right...
???: *sigh* I guess.
Jill:
Jill: So, why are you looking for that girl, mister...?
Art:Von Delay,Art Von Delay。
Art: Von Delay, Art Von Delay.
Art:
Art: I'm a private detective. It's what I do.
Jill: So, I'll assume you're either looking for a missing girl or working for a creepy online stalker.
Art: You're assuming the girl I'm looking for is innocent, or lost.
Jill:
Jill: She's not?
Art:
Art: She's half of the so-called "Reapers" of the city.
Art: Two guns-for-hire that work for whoever's resourceful enough to find them and wealthy enough to pay them.
Art: Crimson Rose and Cobalt Lily, they call themselves.
Jill: (They still sound more like teenagers' internet nicknames.)
Jill:
Jill: So, who wanted you to track her?
Art:
Art: I don't know. I got the letter with the instructions and a paycheck.
Jill:
Jill: What if it's a prank?
Art:
Art: I have the money, so what do I care if it is?
Art: Besides, considering the amount I was able to cash in with that check, it'd be a pretty wasteful prank.
Jill:
Jill: I see.
Art:
Art: Still, any information or rumors you could give me?
Art:
Art: They don't have to be related to the girl.
Jill:
Jill: Why do you need them?
Art:
Art: It's always good to keep up with local goings-ons.
Jill:
Jill: Well... let's see...
Jill:唔……
Jill: Hm...
Jill: Sorry. Can't think about anything right now. Most of the conversations you hear in here aren't rumor-worthy.
Jill: Humor-worthy, maybe. But not much about current events. At least, not beyond what you see on the news.
Art:
Art: Dammit! What kind of bar is this if you can't gather the word on the street?
Jill: (What kind of film noir world do you think you live in?)
Jill: Gil might know something if you're so fixated on finding some kind of information.
Gillian:
Gillian: I-I don't know what you're talking about.
Gil?
Art: Do you know something that might help me, Gil?
Gillian: I don't. I certainly don't and I'm offended by the suggestion that I do.
Art:
Art: He knows something.
Jill:
Jill: On second thought, maybe it's better if you don't get involved with him.
Art:
Art: Well, this has been a major waste of time.
Art:BTC
Art: And here I thought all the noise BTC bars have made lately would be useful for something.
Jill:
Jill: Noise? What noise?
Art:
Art: You don't know?
Jill:
Jill: I'm asking for a reason.
Art:
Art: You'll find out soon enough. Don't worry.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Art:
Art: In any case, I guess I'll have another drink and leave.
Jill:
Jill: What can I get you?
Art: I'll have a Grizzly Temple.
Jill:
Jill: Simple enough.
【Grizzly Temple】
Jill:请用。
Jill: Here.
Art:
Art: Okay then. This is going to be deducted from the $80 from earlier, right?
Jill:不。
Jill: No.
Art:
Art: Fine...
Jill:
Jill: Here you go.
Art:
Art: Wrong! Not paying for this!
Jill:
Jill: Yeah, yeah...
Jill:
Jill: Try not to look so hAppy at least.
Art:
Art: Come on! There has to be something.
Art:
Art: This week has been slow as hell.
Art: The only good thing I've heard is about this girl who threw herself off the roof of a nearby mall.
Art: And the whole thing about a woman catching her mid-air makes me think it's totally made up.
Jill: Aside from rumors that "The Harbingers" are looking to cause trouble at a bank today... no, not really.
Art:
Art: Dammit!
Art:
Art: Wait... who told you that?
Jill:
Jill: It Appeared on the news, didn't it?
Art:
Art: Yeah, but the name "The Harbingers" wasn't used.
Art:Glitch City
Art: No Glitch City outlet has reported that themselves.
Art:
Art: There are rumors that someone or something is keeping them silent.
Art:
Art: And even the international outlets aren't using the name "Harbingers".
Art:
Art: They're avoiding acknowledging the organization yet, for some reason.
Art: So you're either one of them or somebody in the know told you about it.
Jill: (Wow, he can be surprisingly sharp.)
Jill: Yeah. Donovan D. Dawson was in here for the last three days, actually.
Art:
Art: Really?!
Jill: (I wonder if he'll notice the glass that idol signed...)
Art: I mean, sure. I can't think of anything that would be useful involving him right now, but...
Jill: (Guess not...)
Art:
Art: Did he talk about anything interesting?
Jill: Interviewing the Idol that had a show a couple of days ago, dealing with messy interns...
Jill:
Jill: Par for the course, I guess.
Art:
Art: I see, I see... that's...
Gillian:
Gillian: Gunshot!
Jill:
Jill: It's a backfire.
Dana:是! 炮!
Dana: FIRECRACKERS!
Jill:
Jill: Hey, what do you think that sound just now was?
Art:
Art: Sounded like something very heavy being dropped.
Gillian:
Gillian: Something heavy? Come on! That's not even close!
Jill:
Jill: It was definitely more like an explosion of some kind.
Art:
Art: No, you could clearly hear the clashing of metal.
Art:
Art: Something that was both made out of metal and very heavy fell down. That's what made the sound.
Jill:
Jill: Whatever it is, it's not normal for it to be repeating so often.
Jill:
Jill: I wonder if something's hAppening.
Art: I heard there were some gang spats going on. Maybe they took the conflict here.
Gillian:
Gillian: Which means... gunshots!
Jill:
Jill: If that's the case, I just hope they don't come too near us.
Art:
Art: Well, I've got to go. Seems coming here wasn't a waste of time after all.
Jill:真的?
Jill: Really?
Art: Really. I just have different needs. But there will come a time when this place might help me.
Art:再见。
Art: Goodbye.
Jill:
Jill: Please, come again.
Jill:
Jill: Gangs, then?
Gillian:
Gillian: Unlikely. This is Unicorn territory.
Gillian: They've always been a neutral and important third party in other gangs' deals.
Jill:
Jill: The who what now?
Gillian:……
Gillian: ...
Jill:*
Jill: *sigh* I'll just pretend I heard nothing.
Gillian:
Gillian: Thank you.
Jill: He left me thinking about the whole "noise from BTC bars" thing.
Jill:
Jill: What's up with that?
Gillian:
Gillian: I think I heard something about money laundering through bars.
Gillian:
Gillian: Don't take my word for it though.
Jill:
Jill: I see...
Jill:
Jill: I guess I'll find out... soon enough.

Streaming-chan: Today I picked the shoddiest, nastiest, smelliest, ugliest bar I could find downtown.
Streaming-chan: And sadly, it actually looks half-decent inside. So much for going to a craphole bar that smells like dog urine.
Gillian:

Jill:
Jill: You're talking to her.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Very funny. Where is he, really?
Jill:
Jill: Right in front of you.
Streaming-chan:……
Streaming-chan: ...
Streaming-chan: Hey, you! The pretty boy over there. Where's the bartender?

Gillian: You're looking at 'em.
Streaming-chan:

Jill:没错。
Jill: Yup.
Gillian:
Gillian: Seems that way...
Streaming-chan:……
Streaming-chan: ...
Jill:
Jill: Is that a problem?
Streaming-chan: Of course it's a problem. Friday nights are peak viewing hours!
Streaming-chan: I need something sexy or enticing to keep them interested.
Streaming-chan: Oh well, there's an easy solution to that.
Jill:
Jill: There is?
Streaming-chan: Yeah. Just take your top off.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Streaming-chan: You might need to take off your bra too, depending on how the traffic goes.
Streaming-chan: Wait, you're quite flat. Do you even use a bra?
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Streaming-chan: Is that piercing glare a "no"?

Streaming-chan: Come on! One of us is gonna have to take off their top off and it ain't gonna be me. I already did that once today.
Streaming-chan: Agh! And it's too late to go somewhere else. By the time I find an even nastier bar, they'll be closed.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: What's your policy on wearing pants?
Jill: Somebody tried to have me fired for wearing a skirt, so we deal with that on a case by case basis.
Streaming-chan: That's not a concrete answer. I need binary yes/no answers. My viewers have the attention span of fruit flies.
Streaming-chan: If they wanted to use their brains, do you think they'd watch something like this?
Streaming-chan: I need to keep them entertained, and the fact that you still have your shirt on isn't helping.
Streaming-chan: Wait, I know! Give me a drink! A big one! The nastiest one you can think of!
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Um... hello? Service here, please.
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Jill: (Wow, it's like my brain shut down.)
Jill:
Jill: Sure...
Jill:请用。
Jill: Here.
Streaming-chan:那好!
Streaming-chan: Alright then! Cheers!

Jill:
Jill: I don't think you should chug it down so...
Streaming-chan:……
Streaming-chan: ...
Jill:……快。
Jill: ...quickly.
Streaming-chan: It's like it hit me, but I didn't feel it until a few seconds later.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Is this what being kicked in the balls feels like?
Gillian:
Gillian: Yup.
Jill:
Jill: Here you go.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Okay! Cheers!
Jill:
Jill: Maybe you shouldn't drink that so quickly.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Woohoo! Those were nice.
Streaming-chan: Wait! They were nice! I wanted nasty drinks, stuff that taste like paint thinner.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: No cookie for you!
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Streaming-chan: Okay. I've decided. I'll just get really wasted.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: That's gotta be fun enough, right?
Jill:
Jill: If you say so...
Streaming-chan: Okay! In the meantime, what can you tell me about this bar?
Jill:
Jill: What do you mean?
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Weird stories! Fun stuff! Interesting facts!
Streaming-chan: You're being seen by an average of 6,000 people. Make their time worth it!
Jill:
Jill: Let's see then...
Jill: Last weekend we held a party for the Seifar Toy Company.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: And?
Jill:
Jill: It's a company run completely by dogs.
Streaming-chan:真的?
Streaming-chan: Really?
Jill:
Jill: This place was completely overrun by Corgis.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Wait wait wait... Corgis?!
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Did you really serve drinks to Corgis?!
Jill:
Jill: Tuxedo-clad talking Corgis, yeah.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Wow! Awesome!
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Wait, you're not shitting me, right?
Jill:……
Jill: ...I wish I was shitting you, trust me.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: What else? What else?
Jill:
Jill: Um... let's see...
Jill: Donovan D. Dawson from The Augmented Eye was here for three nights in a row.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: That perfumed chauvinistic bastard?
Jill: (Huh, there's that word again.)
Streaming-chan: Just the other day someone from The Augmented Eye interviewed me, actually.
Jill:
Jill: What did they ask?
Streaming-chan: Oh, the usual bullshit. Who I was, what I did, future plans, inspirations...
Streaming-chan: The one that interviewed me was this small, meek girl with glasses.

Streaming-chan: She seemed a bit bitter though. I wonder why.
Streaming-chan: But enough about tha-... wait. Can I see that glass over there?
Jill:
Jill: Hm? Sure.
Streaming-chan: This signature... Is this *Kira* Miki's autograph?!
Jill:
Jill: Yeah, she came here before her last concert.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Get out! Really?!
Streaming-chan: Is this some kind of secret hidden bar of the stars or something?
Jill: Not really. We're just in the right place at the right time.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: What kind of person is she when she's not on stage?
Streaming-chan: I've tried to get a meeting with her, and she actually seemed willing but she's always busy.
Jill:
Jill: A very nice girl, actually.
Jill: She seems to be completely invested in her work. She loves what she does and it shows.
Jill: You'd think she'd be some sort of diva, but as far as I'm concerned, she's one of the nicest people I've met.
Streaming-chan: I KNEW IT! I knew she was nice.
Streaming-chan: Her passion shows in her concerts, you know? She's so... spontaneous. Her performances are never the same.
Streaming-chan: Every time she sings Shine Spark, I feel like my soul is warming up like a high-performance computer.
Streaming-chan:SHIIIIIIIIIINE SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!!
Streaming-chan: SHIIIIIIIIIINE SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!!
Streaming-chan: I find myself singing it in the shower all the time.
Streaming-chan: And those who pay Premium can hear me sing everyday! At $99.99 a month, go Premium now!
Streaming-chan: That aside, I was about to call bullshit on what you said.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: But I guess you do have some sort of proof for everything.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Can I keep this glass?
Jill:不行。
Jill: No.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Pretty please?
Jill:
Jill: No.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Party pooper.
Streaming-chan: At least this bar might be more interesting than I initially thought.
Streaming-chan: The one thing that'd make it perfect is if pretty boy over there had a past with the KGB.
Gillian:
Gillian: WHO TOL-...!
Gillian:
Gillian: Y-Yeah... that'd be crazy, huh?

Jill:……
Jill: ...
Jill:
Jill: Are you gonna order anything else?
Streaming-chan: What? Oh. Yeah, yeah. The whole getting wasted thing.
Streaming-chan: I heard of a drink called a Bad Touch.
大号的咸猪手(A Big Bad Touch)。
Streaming-chan: Get me a big one of those, please. A Big Bad Touch.
Jill:*
Jill: *pfffft* C-coming right up.
【咸猪手(Bad Touch)】
Jill:请用。
Jill: Here.
Streaming-chan: I was expecting something... dirtier.
Jill:
Jill: We have olive brine - I can pour in a bit, if that's what you want.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: No, not that.
Streaming-chan: With such a dirty name, it feels like the drink ought to come in a p【屏~蔽~_(:з」∠)_】 llic glass or be this thick white liquid.
Streaming-chan: That would've skyrocketed the watchers at least threefold.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Don't you have anything like that?
Jill:没有。
Jill: Nope.
Streaming-chan: *sigh* I'll have to make do with the condensed milk when I get home.
Jill: (Seems she didn't notice it's not the right drink.)
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Wait! The order is wrong!
Jill:(见鬼!)
Jill: (Dammit!)
Streaming-chan: Oh, well. Doesn't look like that would've solved anything anyway.
Streaming-chan: Friendly reminder that today's Escapade is brought to you by Shining Fingered dot moe!
Streaming-chan: Leaders of VR adult entertainment since 2069!
Streaming-chan: Buy a year of Premium membership for a neat code.
Streaming-chan: Said code will net you a free trial of a VR experience with a model based on moi!
Jill:
Jill: What's the deal with that VR experience?
Streaming-chan: Well, a fan made an NND model of me.
Streaming-chan: When Shining Fingered asked me about a model for our partnership I just contacted him.
Streaming-chan: He got money for polishing the model a lot more, I got my partnership. We all won!
Streaming-chan: I even got him a year of free Premium membership and a VR set!
Jill:
Jill: That's nice.
Jill:……等等。NND是什么?
Jill: ...wait. What's NND?
Streaming-chan: Don't tell me you haven't heard of Niku Niku Dance.
Jill:
Jill: I asked for a reason.
Streaming-chan: It's... well it's music videos with 3D models.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Yeah, that sounds like a good enough explanation.

Jill:
Jill: I see.
Streaming-chan: To be honest though, the model is a bit... meatier than me.
Streaming-chan: Not that I mind it though, considering the use it gets.
Jill:*
Jill: *ahem*
Streaming-chan: You know, I was expecting you to be more... scared when I said that you're being watched by a lot of people.
Jill:
Jill: It's hard to be scared when you can't see these people.
Streaming-chan: But they're still there, you know?
Streaming-chan: Sure, they're behind screens and sometimes in the opposite corner of the world...
Streaming-chan: But every single one of my viewers is a real person with a real life.
Streaming-chan: Not being here doesn't make them any less real.
Jill: I understand, but it's just not the same. They're not here, visibly paying attention to me.
Jill:
Jill: I don't get paranoid because of my phone contacts.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: That's true, I guess.
Streaming-chan: So... tell me. What made a lady like you become a bartender?
Jill:
Jill: It's not exactly an exciting story.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Does it involve a man?
Jill:不。
Jill: No.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: What about a crime?
Jill:无关。
Jill: Nope.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: A childhood promise?
Jill:
Jill: Nah.
Streaming-chan: A religious vow?
Jill:
Jill: A what?
Streaming-chan: You're not gonna tell me that you just decided out of the blue to quit your job and start bartending.
Jill:
Jill: That's actually what hAppened... sorta.
Streaming-chan: Oh, come on! No epiphany? Quarter-life crisis? Not even a hot teacher somewhere along the line?
Jill:……*
Jill: ...*cough*
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Jill: L-Life isn't always a young adult novel where every decision is a road cone.
Streaming-chan: And that's a problem. One third of my audience are teens that shouldn't be allowed to watch my streams.
Streaming-chan: Throw me a bone here. There must be a nice, mystical story you can tell about yourself, Ms. Bartender.
Jill:
Jill: Well...
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeees?
Jill:……
Jill: ...
Jill: Some time after I started working I got an interesting client.
Jill: He was a DRK-S0L, a really old Lilim model.
Jill:
Jill: Apparently his power supply was running low.
Jill: His charger was destroyed, and he didn't have the money to buy upgrades or replacements.
Jill:
Jill: He also seemed to have neglected his maintenance.
Jill: He was from the time when the Collective Source wasn't a cloud storage system.
Jill:
Jill: So he wouldn't be uploaded there once his body ran out of energy.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Keep going...
Jill: It was weird, you know? He was the only Lilim I've seen with a clear cut fear of mortality.
Jill:
Jill: No transcendence for him. He would disAppear once his batteries ran out.
Jill: "It's like knowing you'll vanish while everyone else passes on to heaven", he said.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Oh, man...
Jill:
Jill: I guess he felt bad about burdening someone else with his problems.
Jill: So he went and gave me a fingertip of his that fell while we were talking.
Jill: Before he left, he said, "If you remember me, maybe a part of me will transcend."
Streaming-chan:……
Streaming-chan: ...
Jill:呃……
Jill: Um...
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Bravo! Bra-vo!
Streaming-chan: Touching! Full of feeling! Completely awesome!
Streaming-chan: I'd pay to see a movie like that.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: So, what hAppened to that finger?
Jill:
Jill: I made a pendant out of it. I carry it with me at all times.
Streaming-chan:
Streaming-chan: Even while bathing?
Jill: ALMOST all times.
Jill: Now that I think about it, how do you handle the stream if you want to watch a movie or something?
Streaming-chan: I have a plugin that lays mosaic censorship over whatever I watch on TV or in the theater.
Jill:
Jill: I see...
