At university in England I was a bit of a telly addict. It’s a stereotype but I wasted many an hour laid about in bed watching daytime TV. One of my favorite shows at the time was Countdown. It’s a popular show in the UK and a big hit with students and pensioners alike. It basically plays out like a big game of scrabble; two contestants are given a set of letters and thirty seconds to come up with the longest word possible. It sounds like a mind-numbingly boring concept but, for whatever reason, it really works. I’m not sure they really ask you questions, just pose you these short word challenges with a couple of math ones thrown in for good measure.Short of swallowing a dictionary, the only preparation I can think of would be to practice. Swatting up on word patterns and rules, trying to work out which letters often go with others to construct words that sort of thing. After watching x amount of hours over the years, I feel like I’m already well into my training.I love playing along with the show at home so can think of nothing better than trying it out for real. Me and my friends went through a phase of being really into the show, so I’d be a real celebrity in our group if I was the one on TV asking for consonants and vowels.

This is what happened last year in a summer time, I was in America with my family, and one of the cities we stayed was Los Angeles, the place where the city landscape was magnificent, unfortunately what attracted me the most was not the natural sight, but more of selectivity.Last year I went to the home stadium of the Lakers in Los Angeles. As soon I was there, I went straight into the gift shop and started looking around the things I’ve wanted to buy for a long time. The home jersey of Lakers was on the top of my list, which the price showed of the tag was 200 US dollars, which was bit of out of budget. Anyway, while I was checking the right size for myself from the jerseys on the rack, I found a special one behind a glass shelve, it was exactly the same as the regular jerseys, but selling for 500 US dollars, the only difference was the autograph from Kobe Bryant who by the way was every reason I was there. I had 500 in my wallet, but it was the money had everything covered, it was a hard choice for me because of the price. Anyway, I bought this special one for 500, because I knew I was going to regret if I didn’t, and there’s no way I could ever have it again if I didn’t. Now this yellow color jersey is quietly sitting in a frame behind glass I customized for it on the wall of my room, and not once I have ever put it on, but just the way it is for me to look at. I have never put it on but only enjoyed looking at it.
