欧洲博士和博后项目以其极高的薪资待遇著称，如果可以拿到工作合同，读博工资在当地已属中产，并享受一切相关福利，毕业后不久即可申请当地永居或移民。申请欧洲读博通常需要硕士学位，一般不需要GRE也无需当地语言，考一个雅思或托福成绩即可申请。套磁是申请的关键。

招生概览
One Ph.D. position (with full shcolarship, covering 95000 tuition/year and 6000-10000 sallary/month) in machine learning and optimization research, starting in Fall 2021, is available in Prof. Xiao Li's research group.
The successful candidates will be enrolled in Data Science Ph.D. stream at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen;
研究方向
Here are some concrete research directions (but not limited to):
Nonconvex and/or nonsmooth optimization.
This topic includes:
1) designing efficient and provable smooth optimization algorithms for problems arising in machine learning and data science,
2) designing efficient nonsmooth optimization algorithms for robust estimation problems in machine learning and data science,
3) analyzing (not that scary) nonconvex problems, such as its global geometry, local geometry, and regularities,
4) applying advanced optimization techniques to a large class of applications arising in signal processing and computational imaging.
Reinforcement learning.
This direction is about to design and analyze efficient algorithms for (mainly) policy optimization.

It is preferred that the candidates have background in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering, Applied Math, or related fields. It is expected that the candidates have solid math background.
English language proficiency: TOEFL 79, IELTS: 6.5

Advisor info: Xiao Li (https://sites.google.com/view/xli) is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Data Science of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he works with Prof. Thierry Blu and Prof. Anthony Man-cho So. He has been a visiting student at University of Southern California, working with Prof. Jason D. Lee. His current research intersts lie in optimization, machine leanring, and reinforcement learning.

8 PhD positions in Computer Science at Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI), L'Aquila (Italy)
The GSSI - Gran Sasso Science Institute offers eight, four-year PhD
fellowships in Computer Science for the academic year 2021/22. The
fellowships include a yearly salary of 16,159.91 EUR gross, free
accommodation at the GSSI facilities and use of the canteen. The
official language for all PhD courses is English.
研究方向
The Computer Science group at the GSSI carries out high-quality,
interdisciplinary research on algorithms, formal methods, and software
analysis and development.
The PhD program in Computer Science at the GSSI fosters
theoretical and applied research on the above-mentioned fields, and
equips young researchers with the knowledge and skills to successfully
tackle the future challenges in the digital era.

About the Gran Sasso Science Institute
The GSSI-Gran Sasso Science Institute is an international PhD school and a centre for research and higher education in the areas of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Social Sciences. The GSSI was founded in 2012 in L'Aquila (Italy) as Centre for Advanced Studies of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and was then established in March 2016 as a School of Advanced Studies providing post-graduate education. Through day-to-day collaboration and interaction, researchers and students have the opportunity to build a sound knowledge of research methods and to engage in interdisciplinary research, innovative approaches for scientific investigation and multicultural exchanges.

an academic transcript (list of the courses attended at the University with grades)
a Curriculum Vitae
a copy of a valid Identity Document (ID) signed and dated
Depending on the chosen PhD, additional documents may be required (es. motivational letter).
Each file uploaded (pdf or jpg format) should not exceed 3Mb.
