Lithium (Li) metal anode is attractive for high-energy-density batteries. In this work, a successive conversion–de-intercalation delithiation mechanism, visually illustrated in the cover art, is proposed by manipulating the overpotential evolution of anode to restrain the generation of inactive Li.

The image represents the structure of figure-eight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon “infinitene” as a new topoisomer of kekulene (C48H24). We propose, for the first time, the concept of mechanically interlocked vitrimers (MIVs), which represents a new generation of mechanically interlocked networks by coupling mechanical bonds with dynamic covalent bonds. An unexpected synergistic effect between the dual dynamic entities highlights the importance of our design beyond the combination of mechanical and malleable properties.

A series of poly(1,4-dihydropyridine)s without traditional luminescent units were developed and showed a bright fluorescence and long-emission wavelength phosphorescence. The emission wavelength can be simply tuned by the variation of the cluster sizes and molecular weight of the polymers due to the through-space conjugation between the heteroatoms and electronically unsaturated units.

Electrochemical epoxide hydrogenation is reported. Various anti-Markovnikov and Markovnikov alcohols can be generated using electrons and protons as the hydrogen source. Of note, this protocol can serve as a modular synthetic route for electrohydrogenation of more challenging and inert oxetane, tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran, and even larger oxepane derivatives.
