HRSV基因组全长约15.2 kb,按照3′到5′顺序含有10个基因,分别为3′ -leader-NS1-NS2-N-P-M-SH-G-F-M2-L-trailer-5′,共编码11种蛋白,包括2个非结构蛋白及9个结构蛋白。NS1、NS2是非结构蛋白,其主要功能是抑制干扰素的合成。核衣壳蛋白(N)与磷蛋白(P)为病毒核酸合成提供场所,多聚酶亚单位蛋白(L)是病毒核酸转录和复制的必需成分。基质蛋白(M)是内包膜蛋白,可以有效抑制宿主细胞转录。M2-1为核蛋白相关蛋白,所包含的转录因子与病毒转录有关。M2下游开放阅读框编码M2-2调控蛋白,负责病毒粒子组装过程中RNA合成;其中小疏水(SH)、附着(G)和融合(F)基因编码病毒的3种表面蛋白,其中G、F蛋白是HRSV两个重要膜表面糖蛋白,刺激机体产生中和抗体,G蛋白辅助病毒黏附于宿主细胞,F蛋白负责病毒融合和合胞体形成,而SH蛋白功能尚不清楚,可能与病毒感染有关。
