To like is to consider something to be good or even to be superb. And the following thought is to want to take possession of it.

喜欢，是看某物好甚至极好，随之而来的念头是：“欲占有”。

But in most cases to love is to consider something to be bad or still not good enough, which in fact is to expect it to be good to such an extent as to be very good. And the following encouragement you get is to be willing to devote yourself to it. 

爱，则多是看某物不好或还不够好，其实是盼望它好以至非常好，随之而得的激励是：“愿付出”。
