1. 词汇辨析：talent & genius

① talent：a natural ability to do sth well

 → 统指“才能”，指通过学习和勤奋掌握的本领、技术和其他的活动能力。

a talent 是“一种才能”，talents是“多种才能”，都指智力而不是体力。

 a man of many talents 多才多艺的男子

→“有才能的人们”（可数/不可数，一般不用talents）

She has a keen eye for spotting talent. [不可数]

她有识别人才的犀利眼光。

There are many good players on the team, but she's a special talent.  [可数]

队里有很多优秀的球员，但她是一个特殊的天才。

② genius:  a very high level of intelligence, mental skill, or ability, which only a few people have 

天生的高度的智力，不指一般的聪明，如学校里的“高材生”不可算作有genius。

He has a genius for maths.

他有数学天赋。

→ 天才人物

He's a mathematical genius.

Genius is the gold in the mine, talent is the miner who works and brings it out.
