NEWS1:

The Canadian government is sending in soldiers to help battle more than 400 fast spreading wildfires raging in the western province of British Columbia  Officials say two of the largest, near the town of Schwab, have now merged, destroying houses and other buildings  At a press briefing, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed the deployment of Canadian troops to the affected areas  The federal government is a continuing to step up  We're there with Canadian Armed Forces  Resources were active in coordinating with regional and local governments to make sure people are safe, make sure we're doing everything to protect lives and property  But there's a lot more to do, and we're going to continue to stay focused on that  More than 30,000 people across the province have been ordered to evacuate, and 10s of thousands more have been put on standby to do so.

 At least 9 million people in Southern California are under flash flood warnings as a major tropical storm  Drives torrential rain across the region's water, has overwhelmed drainage systems and spilled across highways from San Diego to Los Angeles  Winds are expected to reach up to 120 kilometres an hour.
