do young people take their parents' advice when choosing a major ?

well it is really hard to give a definite yes or no , actually it is up to different young people whose understandings to what they are vary .

1st as for those who are clearly aware of where they shine or suck , of course not , they would never take parents’ advice into account when choosing a major , as everything in the world is changing so fast and parents don't necessarily know what really suits their children , for example ,....

2nd however in terms of youngsters who just finish high school graduation who don't know anything about universities or details of a major , maybe taking parents' advice is not a bad idea since parents have way more social experience than kids do , for instance ,....
