NEWS1:

A major online data breach(网络数据泄露) on Northern Ireland has published the names and work locations of every police officer in the territory, the British cabinet minister responsible for Northern Ireland Chris Heaton Harris said he was deeply concerned. Charlotte Gallagher reports. The details of more than 10,000 police officers and civilian staff were published online. It appears to include everyone in the force from the chief constable(警察局长) down. It seems to have happened accidentally when the force was responding to a freedom of information request. No private addresses were released, but the locations of where officers were based was included. The data is particularly sensitive because of Northern Ireland's troubled past and security threats facing police officers.

NEWS2:

The leaders of eight South American countries have agreed to launch an alliance to tackle deforestation(森林采伐) in the Amazon. They signed a joint declaration(联合声明) at a summit in the Brazilian city of Belém(巴西帕拉州首府:贝伦) Kitty Watson reports. It's a hefty(宏大的,大体量的) declaration, some 10,000 words, and in it the country said the objective was to prevent the Amazon from reaching a point of no return. It covers a lot of ground(领域,不可数), and in it the members agree it's important to draw up common goals, such as combating Deforestation by 2030 and halting illegal mining and logging(砍伐), but there was little detail on how will happen while the declaration shows a commitment to tackling big issues together, there are differences in opinion in some areas Colombia's president, Gustavo Pedro, wants all countries to work on banning new oil exploration, but Brazil is controversially wanting to explore new areas at the mouth of the Amazon River.

NEWS3:

President Joe Biden has announced that nearly 1,000,000 acres around the Grand Canyon(科罗拉多大峡谷) and the state of Arizona, seen by local Native American tribes(部落) as sacred land(神圣之地), will be designated a national monument(国家历史遗迹). New uranium(铀) mining projects will now be prohibited. Here's Lorena Gordon. When the Grand Canyon National Park was created around 100 years ago, the Tribal nations which lived on the land were forced out, President Biden said, designating the area in national monument would write the wrongs of the past and preserve the area for future generations. Tribal Say the move will help safeguard critical drinking supplies for communities living along the Colorado River basin. Arizona will be a battleground state in the next presidential election. Winning the state will be a critical part of President Biden's efforts to secure a second term in office.

NEWS4:

Nigeria, which chairs the West African bloc ECOWAS(西非国家经济共同体Economic Community of West African States, says military intervention in nature following last month's coup has not been ruled out. A spokesman for Nigeria's President said all options would be discussed at an ECOWAS meeting on Thursday.
