【OneRepublic】乘风而起——Ryan的Native发行十周年纪念小作文（自译中英对照）

10 years ago this week. 13mm albums sold, 105mm singles. Still can't believe it. I always thought 3rd albums were super important because, historically, it's where artists typically taper off and kind of fade away, OR magically find a second wind and grow- I am eternally grateful that for us it was growth.
从发行Native到这周已经过去十年了。它创造了1300万的专辑销售量，单曲收听量达到了1.05亿次。这个成就至今我仍难以相信。我这一直都觉得，每个艺人的第三张专辑都超级重要，因为溯及过往，第三张专是艺人们逐渐消失在大众事业最后泯然众人的拐点，或者是如魔法般抓住机会再度乘风而上的大好机会——因此我也发自内心地对三专充满感激，因为它给我们带来的是乘风而起的成长。
Being an artist is an incredible but completely insane and bizarre existence... People fall in love with YOUR story and your specific way that you tell it (and how well they can relate to it)... but that story is only as good as the actual experiences and events that you as the artist have lived.
成为一名艺术家，是一个美妙却非常疯狂还很古怪的事儿……人们会爱上你的故事，和讲故事的具体方式（以及他们对于你的故事的理解程度）……但这个故事的美好程度只取决于你作为一位“艺人”时所真实经历的一切。
I remember when we made this for whatever reason there was a lot on my mind, and I genuinely had a lot to say...which isn't always the case. I was also ready to reinvent our sound, or more specifically, actually create THE sound that people could identify as OneRepublic- I am a die hard shapeshifter so landing on one sound or genre for an entire album has never been my strong suit. With Native, we at least came close. Our first album put us on some planes, but this is the album that took us around the world and back again multiple times. It was never ending.
我还记得，当我们出于某种原因做这张专辑的时候，我的脑子里有很多思绪，而且我由衷地有很多话想要倾诉……情况并非总是如此。我当时也准备重构我们的公众印象，说白了，就是创造一个能让人们立马辨别出OneRepublic的“声音”——我是个固执的百变者，所以让整张专辑都往一个印象或者流派的方向走不是我的强项。但在Native这张专辑里，我们至少很接近这个目标了。我们第一张专辑让我们搭上飞机乘风而起，但Native才是那张带我们走向世界并环游多次的专辑。而且这个环游尚未结束。
"Feel Again", "Lose Myself", "Counting Stars", "Love Runs Out", "I Lived”... We got the order of those singles WRONG (as is typical) but, thankfully the world decided what it wanted to hear and the rest is, as they say, history.
“Feel Again”、“Lose Myself”、“Counting Stars”、“Love Runs Out”、“I Lived”……也许我们打单的顺序确实有问题（这确实挺常见的），但谢天谢地，这个世界决定了它想听到什么声音，剩下的正如人们所说，一切已成历史。
I will be eternally grateful for this album, everyone who has ever listened to it, and whatever impact it is made on people's lives... That is why I got into music in the first place... Make people I've never met FEEL something universal and, as an added bonus, get to see the world and perform those songs for those people.
我会由衷地感激这张专辑，以及每个听过它的人，还有它给人们的人生轨迹带来的一切影响……这就是为什么我总是把音乐放到第一位……音乐让那些我可能这辈子都无法相遇的人感受到某种具有普世意义的东西，而我们要往外走，去看看这个世界，并且给这些人表演歌唱这些歌曲，以此作为对这一切的额外回报。
