林译小说：是指清末古文家林纾（琴南）用文言意译的163 种欧美小说。著名的有《巴黎茶花女遗事》《迦因小传》，译笔哀感顽艳，《黑奴吁天录》《块肉余生述》等译笔质朴古劲。因其早而开风气，对世界小说的大量输入，而引发读者对中国小说正宗地位的首肯。译文虽不尽忠实原文，但简洁传神，时杂谐趣，颇能传达原著的情味。作文重视形象与情境，善以含蓄隽永的笔墨造境叙情。
