The barn was very large. It was very old. It smelled of hay and it smelled of manure. It smelled of the perspiration of tired horses and the wonderful sweet breath of patient cows. It often had a sort of peaceful smell as though nothing bad could happen ever again in the world.  这个棚仓非常宽阔，也十分老旧。它散发出干草的气味，还有粪肥的氣味。此外，它还散发出精疲力尽的马儿的汗水气味以及温和的母牛所散发出的美妙的香甜气息。它的气味总是那般宁静祥和，仿佛世界上不会再次发生任何不幸。
