Vietnam.
The rise of Vietnam is admirable. When I see Vietnamese cities today, it reminds me of Chinese cities ten to fifteen years ago. Compared to Indonesia and the Philippines, Vietnam seems to be better prepared and they are just getting started. Their current condition I think it is because they were quite unlucky that they experienced so many wars in the past.
I think Indonesia and the Philippines will be the next after Vietnam.

Vietnam’s education is generally very good. Workers are productive. Under-employment is a relatively minor issue in comparison to the Philippines and Indonesia. Plus, they have positioned themselves as a key exporter - roughly 10% of all smartphones are manufactured in Vietnam. Corruption is still an issue, but the government is making an effort to address it.

I have never been to Vietnam before. My six days trip to Ho Chi Minh City this week is an eye opener for me. In the area of Phu My Hung ( an expat district). You don’t think it’s Vietnam. It’s like another city in the Western world. Streets are wide and restaurants are many. Parks and green area are everywhere. Totally different from other parts of Saigon. I wonder how can the average Vietnamese can afford this kind of living? Last night we went for ferry cruise dinner on the Saigon river. We can see all those high rises along both sides of the river. The bill for the dinner comes to US$75.00 each. I was amazed by the living standards here. Vietnam will be the next rising star in the Far East.
我之前从来没有去过越南。本周六天的胡志明市之旅对我来说真是大开眼界。去了富美兴都市区（一个外籍人士聚居地）之后，你会觉得这不是在越南，而是在西方世界的某一个城市。这里街道宽敞，餐馆林立。公园和绿地随处可见。这里和西贡的其他地区完全不同。不过我很奇怪普通越南人如何负担得起这样的生活水平？昨天晚上我们在西贡河上的一艘渡轮上享用晚餐。在渡轮上我们可以看到河两岸的那些高楼大夏。这顿晚餐每一个人要支付75美元。我对这里的生活水平感到震惊。越南将会成为远东地区下一个冉冉升起的新星。

Yes, Phu My Hung (Rich Beautiful Prosperous) is a newly planned district, that is why the layout is much better than other districts. But Phu My Hung isn’t the richest area and the money people are actually in District 1,3,5. Nowadays many newly developed areas of Vietnam look like Phu My Hung.
Another upcoming district is Thu Thiem, which is in the process of being built

My view is that any country that doesn’t exercise a full fledged democracy will experience faster developments.
