The Most .Important Influence on Young Adults

It is universally accepted that people are under constant influence of those who play a signifi-

cant role in their life. Some hold that parents have a decisive effect on them. Others, in contrast,

maintain that friends, especially close ones, exert a more profound impact upon all walks of their

daily life.

From my perspective, there are some truths in both arguments, and it is by no means a simple

task to rule which wins. At different stages of life we are influenced by different people. When we

are children, parents' influence is primary and decisive. It is our parents that cultivate our sense of

security and belonging as we grow up. When we reach adulthood, we are more likely to be influ-

enced by our peers and friends. It is friends who help us pursue our success in career and build up

our interpersonal relationship.
