Sigmoidal Fitting/Dose Response Curves

Sigmoidal fitting, or dose-response fitting, is a type of analysis that is often used to analyze dose-response relationships, the competition of a ligand for receptor binding (competitive binding assays), or the voltage dependent activation of ion channels.

You can perform a dose response curve fit by selecting Fitting: Fit Sigmoidal from the main menu. This actually opens the Nonlinear Curve Fitter to the Growth/Sigmoidal category. Then you can select a function in this category to perform the fitting.

The Nonlinear Curve Fitter is a general-purpose fitter that allows you the greatest amount of flexibility when analyzing your dose response data. When it is used to perform dose response fitting, it is also capable of computing the derivative parameters such as EC20, EC50 and EC80. (View an example...)

In addition, the NLSF offers to perform global curve fitting (i.e. share one or more parameters between two or more datasets during a simultaneous curve fitting session) or pre-processing and post-processing routines to automatically extract the results you need from your data (e.g. pKa, pKb, EC50 or other measures of potency, etc.)
